Well, after a two week hiatus, here my thoughts on the newest episode of Terminator. I missed the first four minutes due to a DVR fuckup. I'll have to watch from the fox.com site tomorrow for the rewatch:
1) The Connors get robbed and it's Riley's fault. Boy, that girl is a completely useless waste of space so far.
2) "No one likes a nag." HAH. Great line.
3) Cromartie just does not quite. He really is a good Terminator in comparison to the others. I like a man who knows how to get a job done.
4) And it's the diamonds that are missing. No wonder they need them back. That's their source of funding.
5) ... and Derek lies about Jesse. I got a bad feeling.
6) Ya know, I really love the Cromartie/Jody dynamic. Hilarious and creepy at the same time.
7) The stalking scene through the grocery store was funny and exciting at the same time. John needs to learn to change his habits.
8) Ellison's been fingered for murder? Clue me up on the WTFmobile.
9) And there's a flashback to a scene with two Ellisons that I saw in preview. that's the scene I must've missed.
10) Moishe sends the Connors on a wild goose chase. It looks like he's wanting them to do his dirty work for him by pointing them at Olshansky. (Cromartie is named after a San Diego Chargers Cornerback and now Olshansky is named after their Defensive End. Josh, your football preference is showing.)
11) And Derek /finally/ calls out John on being a twit, but does so to Sarah. I really want them to come down on him harder on some of the shit he pulls and lets Riley pull.
12) Moishe gets the slapping around he deserves. Followed by Cameron putting Moishe's mook through the wall. And the "Not yet" was great.
13) Cromartie still loves muscle cars. And he finally shows a bit of his true colors to Jody when she gets annoying and, literally, tosses her out of the car. At least he stopped first, Jody. He must like you!
14) As a straight guy -- Stephanie Jacobsen (Jesse) in a bikini is /hot/.
15) Kacy gets the willies from Cromartie and lies for the Connors. AND she calls John to warn him. I still stand by the fact that she's cooler and awesomer than Riley in a thousand ways.
16) Cromartie at the Baum residence -- NOT GOOD! ... and of course they cut to commercial.
17) GAH. MUST THROTTLE RILEY! Why do you constantly make the situation worse? At least we see John with a gun in his hands.
18) Don't humor her, John. For the love of...
19) Cameron has the bible in her memory banks? Interesting. And creepy.
20) The first time we hear someone else descibe a TDE. Interesting... and when the cop says 'energy bubble', I know he's Weaver.
21) You don't steal Cameron's purple jacket. You just don't. That was very, very cold. And I notice that Sarah doesn't say a word. Either she's getting very cold or doesn't think she can reign Cameron in.
22 ) ... but she gives guy number 4 a pass.
23) Derek and Jesse clean out Moishe and I don't think they'll be sharing with the family. They also clean out Moishe's brainpan.
24) Ellison's ex-wife is back! Yay! And, at the same time, ouch. 'Call me next time you want to see something familiar. I'll send you a picture.' That is so much ouch.
25) FINALLY Sarah lays it out for John and makes it damn obvious that what he wants won't work. Nothing will ever make it work. My only problem is he sounds like such a twit when he asks why she didn't protect him from killing Sarkissian. Sorry, John, but nothing can protect you from that aspect of your life. The little boy is going to die and wither and or end up a corpse. Either General John Connor emerges from the withered husk of John Baum or John Baum finds himself buried in a ditch thanks to a terminator.
26) And Cromartie will now know for certain right where the Connors are. Prepare for everything to go straight to hell.
Overall that was a great episode. Edge of your seat with a nice cliffhanger at the end. The preview makes me really want to see the next episode. The biggest weakness was Riley but, for once, her weakness was written into the script. She /is/ the impediment she feels like and that works for me. Everything she did made things worse for the Connors and it felt like Sarah and Cameron and Derek were the competent ones as they chased all their stuff down and brought it back.
But, in the end, Sarah's mercy is liability. Cameron's decision to kill the three guys was shrewd and if she had killed the fourth, what happens next would not have come to pass. But... here we go.
