I don't think my mind is allowing me to realize how disappointed I am.
Looking for kumi daiko communities on DiscoverNikkei.org, I found that the only one listed that I could reach on a weekly basis is Nen Daiko, in Fairfax, VA. Their website looked very asian and professional, but I sent them an email anyway. Turns out they don't offer classes when they're not recruiting for the ensemble, and they only recruit in the fall. An email to the people running Discover Nikkei referred me to Nen Daiko.
I am shit out of luck. I even got thwarted trying to make practice drums--the only thing the container store has to offer that would have worked cost twenty-five dollars each. (I know, I know; there are other options. It was just depressing...)
In addition, motorcycle training might not work out either. Sounds like you need your own gear to take the course, even if I could get around the MVA's retarded website. Every time I email them to ask how you actually sign up for classes, it sends me an automatic email referring me to the website.
