Okay, I totally agree with this section of the post:
"Bitch about rigid gender roles that continue to define men by their jobs and only their jobs, even as more of them choose to be stay-at-home dads. Go ahead, even bitch about the girl you left behind and the job that made you do it. But don't fucking bitch about feminism."
Mostly because, as for men, we are expected to act a certain way in society's eyes. We are almost suppose to be emotionless, robotic, bread winners. Re: 1950's Ward Cleaver, and Jim Anderson of 'Leave it to Beaver' and 'Father Knows Best' respectively. It is almost sad that gender rules haven't actually changed since the 1950's television shows.
Many people sit there and try to say they change. To a certain degree, gender rules have evolved, but not really. Women who are in higher power levels of the work place are often seen as bitches, and are highly looked down upon. Men who stay at home, as stay at home fathers, are often looked upon as failures in the work sphere.
Yes, there are women in the workplace, but that came mostly because of WW2, and the women not wanting to go directly back at home. Even then, women in the workplace are often seen as okay in the specific roles of, receptionist, nurse, record keeper, customer service, etc. The women that have broken out of those select spheres are looked upon as almost freaks, or totally not acceptable. Women can preform the same job aspects as any male.
In closing...
People that are closed minded and do not accept that gender rules need to die... Should be sent off to a small island without the ability to contact the outside world and just die off.
