We have a rule here at Tenacity software. That rule is simple; never give out Norm's contact information, ever. Take a message, he will call them.
Norm is the 70+ year old programmer who founded this business and won't let anyone else touch his code. It's mostly COBOL though, so I don't think he needs to worry as much as he does. Either way, I've seen a fair bit of it, he was writing OO code in 1982. That makes him some sort of old school badass in my book, so I respect the rule that he never comes into the office, does all work from home, and we don't let anyone know this so that he doesn't get contacted at home.
Today I got a call from Charles at Sun Microsystems.
"Hi."
"Sun, Sun Microsystems?"
"No, he's not in the office right now I'm afraid."
"Uh..."
"Sure, it's 0401 124 872."
"Thanks have a great day Charles."
