11:12 AM me: *does not eat the phone handset while on the phone*
11:13 AM Colin: You have such good ideas.
me: It was a close thing, though.
Colin: you lead a truly harrowing life
11:15 AM me: I mean, I'm on hold, and the handset is right next to my mouth, and I just wonder, how much of it could I fit in my mouth? But no, no, that's actually a bad idea, and I barely manage to avoid it.
Colin: wow.
11:16 AM I could definitely fit my whole phone in my mouth
me: Well, this wasn't a cell, it was the handset of my desk phone.
Colin: Ohhh.
I see.
not ... cell phone?
me: It sure was a close call, though.
Colin: Desk ...
phone?
what's that?
11:17 AM You mean like a cell phone you left on a desk?
me: It's like a regular phone, except it's huge and tied to the wall with a little rope and you keep it on a desk.
Colin: What? Why would you do that?
Why the rope? Is it a phone leash?
me: I dunno? I guess to keep it from walking away?
11:18 AM But then again, these things don't usually even have a vibration function, so I don't know how they'd manage it in the first place.
Colin: What do you do when you have to leave your desk? Can you take the rope off?
11:19 AM me: I don't think so. It has some sort of security system in place where if you take the rope off, it disables the phone and you can't make calls out. Maybe even can't get calls in, but I haven't tested that. Maybe the rope is to keep people from stealing it?
11:20 AM Colin: That makes sense. It'd also explain why it's big.
me: I don't know why anyone would want to steal it, though. It's so huge I don't think it'd fit in my purse.
Exactly.
11:21 AM Colin: Maybe I should get a "Desk Phone" for my house, so it's harder to steal. And I could get a rope for my bluetooth headset, so I don't lose it.
Man, I should market home versions of Desk Phones!
There's money to be made!
me: Hey, yeah! I think you should probably not go for the ropes with the lockout security features, though. That'd probably get annoying real fast.
11:22 AM Colin: You're probably right.
