Okay, so yesterday didn't go that well, after my oversleep. I kept drifting off all day. I really need to sit down with myself and figure out things I can do to keep myself occupied. By the evening I was doing better, though, and back on track. My 20:00 nap was right on schedule (even though I was at my aunt's house for our annual Christmas gathering), and my body even seemed to expect it; I still felt a little groggy when I woke up, but that cleared within a few minutes. I was even told that someone came up to the guest room that I was using and turned on the light, planning to watch some TV, before noticing that I was sleeping there. I was fast enough asleep that I didn't even notice, though.
Last night's core sleep went well, at least in terms of waking up at the right time. I did find another alarm program to use with my phone, and though there are some design choices I question, on the whole it's a solidly and intelligently put-together program. It even has a feature you can turn on where, in order to stop or snooze a sounding alarm, you have to enter the 5-digit number it shows on the screen. Unfortunately, the dry winter air is really playing havoc on my throat; I got my humidifier back out and turned it on this morning, and I think I may get one of those personal steamers
igasu has. I even considered going back to a regular sleep schedule until my throat feels less raw, but I think the humidifier will solve most of my problems in that regard. If it gets worse, or if it doesn't get better soon, then I may do that. I was a little surprised, though, because I discovered I didn't really feel like going back to sleep... I mean, yes, I did still feel tired after 3 hours of sleep, but not the I-need-to-crawl-into-bed-I'm-so-exhausted kind of tired I'm used to feeling. It's a pleasant change.
