Momocon 2017
For this momocon I had to miss half the convention. D asked off for the time but then didn’t even take it! However, it messed me up so the best I could do was leave early on Friday. I got there about 10 at night and it took me another half hour to find a place to park. I tried to keep my number of bags down since I wasn’t parking right there at the hotel. I walked to the hotel with my bags and messaged Danielle that I was there. She and Amber came and got me. We were in the South tower along with everyone else. She got me a key card so I could get in and out. It was too late to get my badge so I just followed them around in the courtyard. They were dressed as Keith and Coran from Voltron. So much Voltron this convention!
Friday morning we got up and put on our Disney costumes. I wore my Cinderella costume and there were two other girls wearing the same outfit and no ballgowns. Very odd. I wanted to get my badge beforehand but didn’t have time. I had trouble putting on fake eyelashes so I gave up. The photo shoot was outside so it wasn’t super important yet to have my badge. I put on sunscreen since we were outside and managed not to get sunburned. Amber wore Anastasia, Seth wore Lady Tremaine, and Danielle wore Rapunzel. It was hot but still fun. Afterward I got my badge. You had to be 18 and the 2 girls in line behind me weren’t so they asked me to be their “guardian” so they could get their badges. I had to watch the volunteer though. He tried to give me a Saturday-only pass because that’s what they had. I was like, uh uh, I paid for a 4-day pass! After that I wandered around the dealers room. Once I got around to the artists alley I stopped for lunch. I was pretty hungry, especially since I hadn’t had a proper dinner the night before. There were food booths in the back and one had a deal where you got a hog dog, drink, and chips for $5. Pretty good deal to me! I sat down to eat and pretty soon Patrick and Shanna happened to sit at the same table. I chatted with them a bit and later Reba and Jennifer came back down and I walked around with them in the artists alley. It was getting on so they came back with me to my room so I could change into Emilia. After, while looking for Seth I ran into Katie. She was wearing Princess Kraehe from Princess Tutu. We chatted for a bit. She was in a really good mood and she seemed genuinely happy to see me. She hugged me 3 times. It made me really happy. I finally left her after promising to send any Tutu cosplayers her way. We were supposed to have a photo shoot at 4 which Seth did not tell me but we got Mike to take pics for us later though by that time Amber had changed out of Felix because she wasn’t feeling good. We also missed Bridget. I didn’t stay in it too long. Reba and Jennifer were two floors below me so they were pretty close. I spent a little bit of time in their room before going up to mine to eat my noodle bowl and change into normal clothes. I tried wearing those mermaid leggings. They don’t stay up too well. We later went back to their room and played uno until they went to bed. I went back to hanging out with Seth and Amber. They were taking stuff out to their car so I walked with them. Both Tom and I did and Seth was like, you don’t have to come out with us, but I wanted to hang out as long as possible. I forgot my badge so we walked around the courtyard and the upper level of the convention center. Yoko was there and she kept trying to give me jello shots. They were super strong so I didn’t really want them. I ran into Destiny finally and we chatted for a little bit and I did go back up for my badge and went to gaming to stay with everyone. We stayed until just before the rave ended. I stayed up til like 330 that night.
The next morning Reba and Jennifer left really early so I didn’t get to see them. I got ready in Howl and met up with Destiny so we could put our stuff in the car. Howl was so hot! Between the long-sleeved shirt and the coat I was sweltering. I didn’t wear that coat for the most part unless someone wanted my picture. I met up with Shaniece after we got back and then messaged Mike. We got pictures, mostly inside because it was hot though we did go outside at one point. After we got done taking pictures we wandered the dealers room and artist alley. We had a lot of people asking for out pictures and saying how cute we were. My wig wouldn’t quite stay out of my face though so not sure how well the pictures turned out. I did some last minute shopping like getting that really nice Haru figure. They also had the Tokiya figure and they were the same price so for a moment I didn’t know which one to get. I decided to finish getting the Free! ones and I would get the Uta-Pri ones later. Around 3 I decided I’d better start heading out. I called Destiny and she was helping some friends get stuff out to their car and while Shaniece and I were waiting for her I saw Katie again. She was in Sailor Neptune and had finally found someone taller than her to be Uranus. We chatted a bit before she headed outside to meet up with some people. Again she seemed genuinely happy to see me. :D We said goodbye to Shaniece then were on our way. The parking garage overcharged me for parking according to what I understood the cost was. I called two different people on the help line and they both hung up on me instead of explaining why it was the price it was. I finally gave up since they obviously weren’t going to explain or change it. There wasn’t a phone number to call but somehow destiny found an email and fired off an email to them. She got me a refund! I figured they’d send a form letter and maybe explain why it was the price it was, or just ignore it. They responded quickly too! We went to Amelie’s French Bakery after that. It was really cute and what I got was good. We didn’t go to Underground Atlanta because it was late and my feet hurt from walking around in heels. Then we missed the exit for 85 and stayed on 75 instead. Had to turn around and go back. I was thinking we were going the wrong way but checked much too late. The rest of the drive was uneventful thankfully. I didn’t go to any events or panels this weekend which is very unusual for me. I would have if I’d had more time. I hate that I missed so much.
