So, I haven't posted in a while. That's mainly because work's been going very well and I have a minimum of personal-life angst to pour forth. In fact, I don't think I've ever had it better than I do at the moment.
That's the huzza.
The huzzu is that in the next two months I need to move house. Usually this would be quite an easy thing: look for houses in the area you want to live. For most people this would be vaguely close to where they work and there's the rub: I work all over the country, so I don't have any particular area I *have* to live in as a base, which is making househunting quite difficult because there are *too many* houses coming up in online searches.
However, I do want to live near a city that has nightlife and things to do and friends that I can visit, and this points me towards London. Incredibly expensive London...
So here's the point of this post: does anyone know of a good house for rent or houseshare possibility in or around the City? I'm quite well housetrained, I like my privacy at certain times, and I can provide nice things for the house. Offstreet parking would be highly preferential to protect my little zoomzoom car. It would be for about a year, perhaps more, perhaps less depending on how work goes. And importantly: I'd be away for most of the year anyway and just back at the weekends or if I'm not working a contract -- so whoever I'm sharing with would have the house to themselves all week anyway!
Hopefully someone knows someone or has some thoughts on the matter. I'd say that Cambridge is also somewhere I'd consider, possibly Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds or Manchester -- but not further north as my work seems to be quite south-based.
Here's hoping! :)
