october was record-settingly rough.

19 shows in 31 days.
while working full time.
while moving into a new apartment (which may or may not be haunted.)
while having and then recovering from surgery.

i'm not sure if i deserve a medal or to be locked in a padded room.

a) oh-so-glamorous sinus surgery, because i've been getting sinus infections and strep throat like every other month since i moved to this damn city- even in the summer ( ... )

boston is lovely although a bit rainy lately. Katie and I have parted ways. it's weird because i haven't talked to her in a while, not for a lack of trying on my part. but i have been too busy to follow up with plans and i suppose she has as well.

other than that, i am livin it up.

i am about to put up a show (hedwig) in which i play a dude. and i am doing a halloween show this weekend. kind of a haunted house dealie. this burlesque thing sounds like a blast. how did you even get started in it?

awesome! are you playing yitzhak?

and...honestly, i'm not even sure how this all got started. :)
i was bored and started taking bellydance classes and everything just kind of snowballed from there.
in chicago, since it's the midwest, the subcultural artistic types are such a small percentage of the general population that they all know each other and tend to work together alot.
it's not uncommon to meet a circus performer who also does burlesque, or a bellydancer who also hoops and does fire performance, etc.
so it wasn't that hard to cross over from bellydancing to hooping to burlesque and now to circus.

lorri lindberg would be so proud of my mad networking skillz. :)

hmmm, there's a huge burlesque festival (the boston burlesque expo?) every year in boston. i was thinking of applying for 2010- we'll definitely have to hang out if i get in!
