yay for youtube... found some footage of the gig go-go hooping at the armin van buuren show at the aragon ballroom. (if you don't feel like watching the whole thing, skip to 3:30)
not really on top of my game, technique-wise, but i'd had sinus surgery four days earlier and still had plastic splints inside my nose to keep everything from collapsing. let's just say i was not at peak performance ability. hell, while we're at it, let's just say that i am both a rockstar and a crazy person to have performed at all when most sensible people would have been in bed recovering.
....and i had 3 other shows that weekend, and came straight from another show that night.

i'm taking a little burlesque break in november and december. and by "break", what i really mean is that there will be no more 4 show weekends. there will still be shows. but i really want to get back into bellydance class, and to start up aerial classes. and i want to work on circus hooping more. oh, and i should probably get some rest and let my body recover from surgery sometime.
also, i have a fairly elaborate grand spectacle of a classic hoop burlesque act that i want to devote a lot of time to developing. details to come.
in the meantime, i have to devote the next week to my grand spectacle revamp of my "the birds" act for varietease's halloween show.
there will be new music... well, 3 new songs, it's going to have a whole storyline arc in 3 acts.
there will be new costuming.
there will be a new bird hoop, based off of a firehoop's design (birds on spokes, not on the hoop itself.)
there will be fan dancing.
there will be FAN DANCING WHILE HOOPING. WITH BIRDS.
and then i pass out and sleep for the month of november. :)
