HP Lovecraft, erotica and why they actually do go together

When the editor of Whispers in Darkness put out the call for Lovecraftian erotica, I will admit I was as skeptical as other people were. How could an author whose predominant themes were fear and disgust be adapted to the erotic, except perhaps on the superficial level of Japanese tentacle porn?

Asenath Waite was out of the Innsmouth Waites. The Waites were a very prominent family and as such, were required to take non-human spouses by the Deep Ones with whom Obed Marsh had bargained. Asenath is only partly human, having fish-blood in her line as all the Innsmouth folk do.

I'm so sorry I missed this call. I was all tangled up in a cyberpunk novel.

You're right about Asenath Waite being a Deep One hybrid and thus "not fully human", but I think that the subtext of her female body and brain being inadequate is there too.

One suggestion: could you put everything after the first paragraph or so of each post under an lj-cut? Especially images. Every time a really long post appears in people's f-lists or images that cock up their layouts, people unsubscribe from the community.
