Title: Haven Rating: G Characters/Pairings: Dan/Rorschach Warnings: None Summary: Rorschach realizes there are worse places he could be than with Dan. For jackiemei :)
That was just wonderful. Wonderful all around. Nicely told, nicely flowing - the last line devastatingly sweet and also quite sad. It was great to see them being everyday heroes too, rather than beating on drug dealers or some such (which is good too, but surely most patrols were less dramatic). Really glad to see them helping out the homeless guy. The fact that I keep the apartment at at low temp and read this while pretty cold really helped add to the atmosphere :) Nice work.
They probably do the everyday helpful stuff when they can or when it's convenient, but they're geared towards the heavier stuff. I think Rorschach's definitely got more of a connection to the lower class than Dan, and since he's pretty much one step away from being this homeless guy it hit him in a personal way to help him, even if it was inconvenient and out-of-the-way. Dan just kinda wanted to get him out of the way of their stakeout. :P
Haha, the cold weather here helped me write it, so I guess it's gone full circle there. Thank you!
just so he could wrap himself in blankets and pretend he was a hibernating bear, a burrowing owl; protected in his cocoon of cotton and heat. Warm is comfortable, warm is safe, and even growing older there was nothing so nourishing as a warm house in the middle of winter.
I know exactly how he feels! *wraps up in warm blankets*
:squeeees: I love it! It's just the kind of bromancy fluff I like, and it stays believable enough to fit into the canon story too. I adore how New York itself was like a character in this story, with its horrible winter weather, and the descriptions of the geography of the city, and the encounter with the homeless man. I'm a sucker for fic that isn't just straight character interaction, but that also offers a detailed world, it really sells the story for me. This definitely delivered. Wonderful job! Thank you so much!
Yay, you like it! *glee* I'm also a sucker for fic with location-specific details and just seeing the characters being city dwellers, so it was way fun to do some of that myself. I'm so glad you like it, thank you!
