Swing Cover of the week: Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles

May 27, 2007 14:43

I was late in getting this done because I had a cold and this time last week I could barely talk, let alone sing. But I'm better now!

This was recorded in a fairly rough & ready fashion. Just my Sony stereo mic, my MP3 player and my Yamaha keyboard set to it's "Swing1" style preset to provide some fairly minimalist instrumental backing and help me keep time. The idea is just to be able to do it quickly and have some fun rather than groundbreaking musical production.

I do apologise in advance for the last note. I overreached and as a result it was rather flat. But overall I think it was a pretty good take.

This week, by the request of odontomachus, is The Beatles song 'Eleanor Rigby', rendered in a more lighthearted fashion in a Swing style.

Download it here (2.2 MB MP3)

My electronics class has requested that I do Europe's song 'Final Countdown' for the coming week, and I'll be going over to Linas place to hopefully get some pretty sweet production on that one.

I had great fun doing it, feel free to request a song for me to do next week, or possibly this week if the 'Final Countdown' cover goes pear-shaped. Remember to have a link to a Youtube or an MP3 of the song so I know what it's supposed to sound like, as well as a link to the lyrics of the song.
