Sai felt somewhat left out of the entire ordeal considering no-one looked at him directly in any way, but decided to ignore that and listen to Kakashi's mission statement instead. When he heard Kakashi mention that they would be in teams, he let out a slight sigh of annoyance remembering being teamed with Naruto on the teams last mission to retrieve Sasuke (though that wasn't his 'real' mission). At the same time, he glared over at Sakura and could almost feel the anger radiating off of her, there was no use in being paired with someone who apparently despises you. He then looked at Kakashi, remembering that being paired with him wouldn't be so bad if his attitude wasn't so annoying. But Sai most definitely did not want to be paired with Naruto, listening to nothing but a winy boy babble on about becoming the next hokage and talking about his rediculous 'way of the ninja' was unbearable.

Sai stepped took a step closer to Kakashi and said, "I have a question. Since I'm still new to the team, may I be allowed a different partner from last time? I want to be able to work with any member of my team when the time is necessary, but I can't train with each team member if i'm always paired with Naruto." He then gave a fake smile, feeling somewhat accomplished in his actions, but at the same time hoped that his ideawon't be shot down.

Sakura's eyes widened at Sai's comment. He isn't... Grinding her teeth, she stared down at the ground, trying to keep her cool. Temptation to kill, rising.

Deciding her teeth were filed enough and that she needed them to eat, her grinding stopped as she looked up hopelessly at Kakashi. Her eyes giving him the puppy dog face that basically said, 'I'll love you forever and ever if you team up with Sai!'

It was her only hope, although being it was Kakashi he would probably make this a training session for Sai and Sakura's 'relationship.' If it could be called even that. Besides, she would have to deal with Naruto for Kami knew how long their mission would last. Not that he was worse than Sai or anything, it was just...Naruto. He would most likely brag to everyone in Konoha that he had some 'alone time' with her, even though it was just a mission. Then again, how would one explain their private training session the other day?

Sighing, she prayed that her fate not curse her today. Kami, please!

Kakashi saw he still had everyone's attention, though Sakura's face was growing almost painfully attentive and Sai seemed a little off kilter. Chuckling inwardly, he figured out what Sakura was trying to communicate.

"We'll be switching off pairs, depending on timing and circumstances. We're a team, and we all need to be able to fight as a well coordinated group with any one of us. We'll also need to be able to fight as the four man cell we're intended to be. Keep this in mind. We're nothing without teamwork." Kakashi's look included all of them, eye to eye, as he emphasised the last part. "If we aren't a team, we are dead. I hope that's clear."

Besides, he'd already decided the first groupings. He needed to get to know Sai better, and Sai needed to get to know him. He'd be able to watch the boy's jutsu in action, and figure out how best to incorporate him into the existing team.

"Sai and I will be one group, Naruto and Sakura will be the other when we first split up - but we won't split up quite yet. As soon as we get out a ways, I'll give the signal, and we'll take different scouting routes that will both end up in a town. I'll show you on the map when we stop for lunch. By nightfall, we'll be out enough to start the mission. Got it?"

"I get to be with Sakura-chan?!?!" Naruto repeated loudly. "Alright! Score! Hey, hey, Sakura-chan?? What do you think of that? It's almost like a date, don't you think??"

He turned back to Kakashi, half saluting him. "Me and Sakura-chan will make an awesome team! But you can keep that penis-loving freak away from me. He creeps me out."

"Relax, Naruto. I said we'd be switching off. You'll have to figure out your differences with Sai sooner or later, and sooner is much preferred. If we can't all work together as an effective team, we're all going to die, and I'd rather not have that. Godaime-sama would not be pleased, and the mission we have is rather important."

Kakashi stretched and looked up at the sky. "So, shall we get going?"

Nodding Sakura applied the proper amount of chakra to her feet, enabling her to jump to a tree branch. "Ready, Sensei! Come on, Naruto!" With a big smile on her face that read, 'If I see any Akatsuki in the area, I'll be sure to give them the greeting they deserve,' she leaned against a tree, beckoning for Naruto to follow suit.

(I guess that after we split we go into our own threads and 'encounter' things, nu? >> << >> :D <3)

(Hai, split up and stuff, but keep threads open, as we should always be in radio contact. ^_\\ )
