Chemo - Still Going

Sep 11, 2017 11:48

I just finished my 4th round of chemo last week. It was by far the worst.

Here is a list of the side effects I have had:

- Inability to drink or eat anything cold. It feels like I am swallowing glass.
- Neuropathy in my face, mainly my forehead, lips and tongue.
- Strange pain in my jaw when I takes the first bite of a meal/snack. Only on the first bite! So weird.
- Nausea. No vomiting, just sick to my stomach alot. Thank God for Zofran.
- Fatigue
- Neuropathy and joint pain in my hands. At times I can not hold anything, as my hands just won't grip.
- Thinning hair. It's getting more obvious now.
- Neuropathy and cramping in legs and feet.
- Anemia.
- Dizziness.
- "Chemo brain." Foggy head, sometimes gets confused, hard to follow conversations and thoughts.

I also got poison sumac last week working in the yard. Never had it before this bad and because my immune system is shot, it spread quickly. It sucks.

I did mow the yard and clean the garage this weekend, so I am feeling better despite the chemo side effects. Basically I get the chemo treatment every other Wednesday, they put a pump in my and take it out on Fridays. Then I am sick till Tuesday, so basically for 1 week I feel like crap, then start to feel better.

I go for my PETSCAN tomorrow to see how the chemo is doing with the tumors. Would be a miracle if it were all gone and I am done, but I feel like I have a few more treatments to go.
