Cancer - The Road To Healing

Jun 19, 2017 12:32

I have been having issues with my left lung for 8 weeks now. They drained 1.5 liters a few weeks ago, but the fluid came back pretty quickly. My pulmonologist referred me to a thoracic surgeon, Dr. Baxter. She did a PET Scan on me and found some active nodules in my pleural fluid. She was concerned and was going to do surgery to remove the fluid, any congealed fluid and the biopsy the nodules.

A week later (last Tuesday), I had surgery. I woke up in a drug filled haze and the only word I heard from my doctor was CANCER. I passed out and woke up in my hospital room. The Dr. had talked to Katrina and told her what was going on an all the tests they wanted to do that week.

I had an MRI, Upper GI and Lower GI tests. Along with the PET Scan, they cannot find any other signs of cancer. Since the cancerous nodules are in my pleural sac, they feel that it had to start somewhere and possibly in my appendix. They are going to run a test on that to see in the next week or so.

My first oncology appointment is Wednesday. I know Chemo is rough, but I am ready to fight this and beat it.
