3rd trimester

I've had a really easy pregnancy so far so I hate to start complaining this late in the game but the 3rd trimester is definitely bringing some aches and pains with it. The worst of these aches and pains is the recent pelvic bone pain I've been having. It started out relatively minor and infrequent but now I don't have to be on my feet for long at all before I'm wincing. For those who aren't aware of how the female anatomy works, the pelvic bone is actually connected in the front by cartilage--it isn't one complete bone. As pregnancy progresses the body produces more and more hormones that loosen things up--like cartilage. So that pain I'm experiencing is actually the cartilage of my pelvic bone separating/tearing apart as my hips/pelvis widen for my upcoming delivery. Fun fact, huh? Ouch.

People ask if I'm starting to sleep poorly. Well, to be honest, I haven't slept through the night since I got pregnant. Even from the beginning, I wake up a minimum of 2 times (I think max was 6 times once) to go to the bathroom. This continues still into the 3rd trimester but now my sides/hips hurt and are stiff and sore upon awakening in addition. I'm contemplating trying out the couch or the couch recliner to see if this helps (plus the couch is downstairs where the bathroom is!) but Elery won't like this idea. If it comes to that, it comes to that but I'll try to tough it out a little while longer. And anyways, even all of that still takes a back seat to this pelvic pain.

In less whiny news, I passed my glucose test so no gestational diabetes for me. Hooray! I also passed my anemia test but just barely. I think the score for anemia is 11 and my score was 11.6. I'd forget to take my pre-natal pills semi frequently but ever since I found out how close I was to being anemic, I've stepped it up and I don't think I've forgotten them once since then! I'm also now in the stage of my pregnancy where I'm going to see my OB every 2 weeks. Since it's been an easy pregnancy I'm in and out pretty quickly.

Work is going well and I just submitted my FMLA paperwork. I *really* wanted to take off the full 12 and a minimum of 10 weeks but finances being what they are and my paid time balance being what it is, 9 weeks is the most I can manage. Oh well, at least I will get to bring Baby Kelery to work with me when I come back to work (until he's 6 months old or mobile--whichever is first). Also, I'm feeling very thankful right now that I have a desk job so I don't have to be on my feet much. Now if I could only improve my memory skills so I'm not walking to the back a million times a day when I forget some piece of important paperwork....

baby kelery, pregnancy
