Okay, it's really adorable that he's a.) making fun of himself, and b.) singing and playing piano in the opening monologue, but unfortunately, he's, uh, not really doing all that well. *sob*
The cold open was a flop, too--they tried to meld the General Petraeus thing with 50 Shades of Grey and, er, it just didn't work.
It's the first commercial break now. More as things happen.
The Californians: No one can keep a straight face during this sketch, which would be way more explainable if it were more than nominally amusing. SERIOUSLY, did they not practice this week?
Mr. Bamboo is threatening to turn it off, which would be literally the first time we've turned off an SNL episode in, like, I don't know, four years? There have been four thingies and only one was funny (the 'Your Childhood Home' bit).
Situation Room: It's getting better. Thank you, Jason Sudeikis.
The Standoff: Yeah, this one's funny. Phew. Now I think we're not actually going to turn it off.
Maroon 5: Well, fortunately they're rarely disappointing in live performances on TV.
Weekend Update is basically the main reason I watch this show, but I'm not okay with the way that they're talking about some of the women involved in the Petraeus scandal. But did Fake Katt Williams just drop an F-bomb?
Yeah, that's actually Chris Christie! and so far he's been funnier than Jeremy Renner...
The Avengers skit: IF ONLY YOU HADN'T FLUBBED THE PUNCHLINE, SWEETIE, I WOULD HAVE COUNTED IT AS A SUCCESS.
The Thug #2 skit just wasn't actually funny in terms of writing. *shrugs*
Drones: Kinda looked like the animation was done by the Ugly Americans people, which reminds me that there isn't more Ugly Americans yet, alas.
Coroner skit: ... it was kind of so absurd that it was funny? But it wasn't actually funny. But hey, it was Jason Sudeikis who flubbed his line, so I'm counting it as a win.
Fortunately the only thing left is the THANK YOU LORNE HI MOM bit, so I'm signing out, but uh, yeah, that was kind of the worst episode this season. *sob*
