So one of my favorite fellow-students, a young lady with all sorts of attitude and style, gave me a high compliment when she sent this email to me today:
http://www.bookmooch.com/ "All about keeping waste down to a minimum. Welcome to Book Mooch- a product service system set for precisely for this purpose. Simply list all the books you have that you want to give away. For every ten books you list you get a point. For every book you send you get a point. Then you can spend your points on books (one point per book) you want or donate your points to charities. I was on my way to Halfprice books to sell about 15 books that I would probably only get $5 for, and I found this site. I already have 6 books to send, and racked up enough points to get 7 books. I'm sending books I never thought anyone would want.
Two downsides: 1. It's does costs you the postage, but if you think of it this way- postage costs way less than most books. Most times if you buy a book online, you have to pay for postage. 2. You don't necessarily get the book you want when you want it. Some books are not available until someone posts one. However you can create a wish list of books you want and they will notify you when that book becomes available. I don't mind this so much because there are lots of books I would buy now but not read for a quite a while. Also, this problem can be greatly alleviated by the more people that give away books. So this is where you come in, spread the word and sign up! Post your books, and lets stop chopping down more trees for more books that are collecting dust! Reuse! YES! I am such an enviro-nerd! "
