RIP: Prince of Tennis

Warning: Pure fangirl drivel

Just found out from Ale-chan’s blog.  The last issue of POT will be out this Monday.  Wow.  It’s been a good, long run, ne?  I remember discovering POT back in college when the anime had come out, and really getting into it because RyoSaku was just so darn cute.  Ryoma was a little punk too, so that was amusing.  XD

After a few years, the anime tanked and my interest lagged, but I still loved the pairing, and while I’m not quite that sad to see it go, I really hope that Konomi-sensei will wrap it up nicely and give RyoSaku a good ending.  I doubt that he’ll just slap them together or something, but just a little interaction would be enough.

Thinking about this some more, I wonder if he’ll go the time-jump route and show where they are a few years from now.  Hehe, maybe he’ll show Ryoma following in Nanjiroh’s footsteps, winning countless matches on the world circuit, and married to Sakuno.  *dreams*  That would be freaking awesome.

And if not, there’s always fanfiction.  POT was the series that really made me blossom as a writer, and I met so many great ppl because of it.  I still remember the day I started writing Solitude (which is still not *^#%ing finished yet, ugh).  It was my first attempt at an angst fic, and I was really proud of it.  Then I got sad because I didn’t want the story to end in such a sucky way, so when the inspiration to write Sakuno’s side struck, I ran w/ it.

Then the inspiration to write other RyoSaku fics struck, and all these years later, here I am today.  I’m barely updating anymore, but I had a hand in fostering the growth of the fandom, and yah, I’m happy about that.  Even though I’m not very active in the fandom anymore, it’s still something I hold close to my heart.  =)

Thank you, Konomi-sensei, for creating such a wonderful series.  Here’s to your next creation.  *cheers*

Annnnnd... may RyoSaku live on!  ^o^v
