J.T. Corporation: Chapter 4

Nov 14, 2010 16:34

Leejoon and Mir had ended up driving to a nearby hibachi restaurant. The two of them left after awhile. As they were headed to the vehicle, Leejoon paused and looked over at him with a smirk, standing outside the car. “So, did you even get a taste of it? I mean, you inhaled it.”

“I did!” Mir exclaimed with a laugh. “I swear! I did taste it! I was so hungry though.”

“I could tell by the way your stomach growled demonically at me at home,” Leejoon replied.

The two of them laughed again together. Leejoon opened the door for Mir and allowed him to go ahead and get in the vehicle first. Mir raised his eyebrow at Leejoon with a grin. “Quite the gentleman,” Mir muttered softly.

Leejoon smiled warmly at the 19-year-old and shrugged. “It’s my job to keep you safe.”

Leejoon closed the door behind him after Mir slipped into the seat and he sighed softly. ‘I wonder if there’s any rules at JT about fraternizing with the victims,’ Leejoon thought quietly to himself.

He couldn’t deny that he enjoyed Mir’s company. After years of having practically no one aside from his work companions, he was rather lonely. He rounded the car and slid into the driver’s seat, starting up the vehicle. It was chilly outside. He glanced over at Mir who was buckling his seatbelt. He could tell that Mir liked him-Leejoon had gotten excellent at reading people. Mir was interested in him. Of course, Leejoon could say the same.

Mir smiled over at him. “Thanks for dinner, though.”

“You’re welcome,” Leejoon replied softly.

There was no inconspicuous way of admiring a person when you sat directly beside them. Mir’s smile drove Leejoon insane-in a good way. Despite what he’d been through in the past twenty-four hours, Mir was holding together where Leejoon had been utterly lost. This boy was what Leejoon wanted in his life-whether or not he could accept that. He had been so secluded since the time he was about eight. No one had wanted him and he’d had nothing-until now.

Mir nudged him. “Are we going to your apartment or hanging out in the parking lot all night?” Mir questioned with that gorgeous smirk.

Leejoon’s features-which were typically very stiff and cold-softened as he smiled at Mir. “We’re going. Sorry, got lost in your eyes,” he murmured smoothly, simply to fluster the boy.

It worked. Mir’s face grew a deep shade of pink and he faced forward. His smile was cute and shy now. Leejoon could only praise himself for his ways with words, despite the fact he knew exactly how corny that line was. He didn’t care. It worked-that’s what mattered. The drive home was short but it held some conversation after Mir recovered from his momentary shock. “So how long have you been uh…. Doing the job you have now?” he asked.

“A few years,” Leejoon replied simply.

“That’s cool,” Mir said softly, looking out the window. “Do you have any family around here? Or a girlfriend?”

Leejoon sensed that question coming. “JT is all the family I have. And no, no girlfriend.”

“Where’s… what… nevermind. Why no girlfriend? You’re a gentleman. Ladies dig bad boys with a sensitive side.”

Leejoon somewhat wondered why Mir ignored-more like moved past-the first part. He shrugged it off and continued. The last part made him smirk. “To be quite frank,” he began, glancing over at Mir, “I’m not much into… well, women.”

‘Way to be straight-forward, Leejoon,’ Leejoon thought. By this time, Mir was really squirming. “I-I see…” he murmured.

It made him quiet. “What about you? Do you have a girlfriend?”

Mir’s adorable blush only deepened. “I… ah, well…”

“Yes? Let me guess, you don’t have a thing for women, either.”

Mir glanced at his lap and nodded softly. “Y-Yeah.”

“Looks like we’re more similar than I imagined,” Leejoon thought aloud.

Mir looked over at him. “How so?” he asked quietly.

Leejoon parked the car. “I’ll explain tomorrow or something. For now, let’s get upstairs. You need some sleep.”

Mir huffed a bit but grinned anyway. “You’re just scared.”

Leejoon was a master of disguise. He laughed lightly as they entered his apartment. In reality, he was sulking in the recesses of his mind. It was the truth. He was honestly somewhat frightened by the thought of opening up. At the time, he was so young-he was able to shut it all out and forget. Talking about his past could bring it all back. It could crush him to know what he’s tried so hard to-and succeeded in-forgetting.

But, he knew he couldn’t keep it hidden forever. He would eventually succumb to Mir’s precious interrogation. If he stuck around long enough. Just not now.

“Did you decide where you want to sleep?” Leejoon asked.

“I’ll let you pick. I feel a little awkward since… well, since I’m just a guest. Anywhere is fine, really.”

Leejoon thought about it. “Sleep in my bed.”

“O-Oh… are you sure?”

Leejoon nodded. His cheeks turned a little bit pink-the first time he’s recalled ever being embarrassed by his words. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but I want you to sleep… well, next to me in case anything happens. It’s uh… a safety thing.”

Mir smiled a little but nodded. “Sounds fair enough. Awkward, perhaps. But fair.”

Leejoon chuckled faintly and shrugged. “Sorry about the awkwardness. Do you need something to sleep in? I’m sure I’ve got tons of random loose clothing lying about in my closet.”

Leejoon motioned for Mir to follow him down the hallway to his bedroom. Mir hesitated as Leejoon started walking. His face felt warm, as though he were running a fever. This was no fever. Mir could only feel a strange butterfly sort of feeling in his stomach as he followed him. Leejoon was digging about through a dresser drawer for the moment. “Uh, so it’s either massive shorts or a loose pair of pajama pants,” Leejoon told him.

“Shorts, I guess. Seems more comfortable,” Mir replied.

Leejoon tossed the bottoms at the young man, who in turn caught them. “If you want, the shower’s just across the hall,” Leejoon told him.

Mir accepted that offer and took a quick shower. Once he returned, he was wearing nothing but the pair of shorts he was given. He laid his clothes down on Leejoon’s small dresser, ruffling his wet hair with his fingers. It was Leejoon’s turn to stare. For a 19-year-old, he was rather pleasantly shaped. His six-pack abdominal muscles were just vaguely outlined though it was enough to visibly notice their existence. His skin was flawless. Leejoon had to shake himself a little to snap out of it. Of course, by this time they were both without shirts-since that was how they both slept.

Mir found himself continuously glancing in Leejoon’s direction. This was the man he was going to be sleeping next to for an indeterminate amount of time. He could definitely handle that. “So,” he said awkwardly, “which side am I sleeping on?”

“The one furthest the window. The right side. Precautions.”

Mir smiled a bit and nodded. “Yeah, I got it.”

He delicately, neatly plucked the blankets up a bit and slid underneath them halfway. Leejoon turned his back toward Mir and closed his eyes. ‘Goddamnit, boy. Why do you have to be attractive?’ he thought to himself. He was slowly falling prey to emotions and involving himself personally with Mir. He wasn’t supposed to, but he felt that Mir was the closest person to him at this point.

“Don’t forget you’ve got to tell me how you and I are similar,” Mir told him, eyes closed and smiling.

Leejoon turned to look at him. He had a feeling Mir was not going to forget as easily as he’d anticipated. “If I remember, I will.”

“I’ll remember. I’ll remind you.”

Leejoon smirked and sighed a bit. “Alright.”

He moved toward his side of the bed and slid under the covers, laying on his back. Mir rolled over and faced him. “Sorry if it’s awkward having me here,” he murmured, his eyes still closed. He was clearly tired.

“Don’t worry about it, Mir,” Leejoon said. “Just don’t worry about it. It’s not a problem at all. I kinda like you. You’re not annoying. You’re like me.”

Mir opened his dark brown eyes a little and grinned. “And don’t you forget to tell me about how.”

Leejoon chuckled. “Fine. Tomorrow.”

The two of them drifted to sleep. Leejoon supposed he’d have to at least give him a clue in the morning.
