The T came up with a brilliant idea to handle Pinky's detentions. Sneaky's GF MonkeyGirl is currently laid off from work. The T suggested that Pinky ask MonkeyGirl to pick her up those two afternoons in exchange for a free evening of babysitting at their house (the AT THEIR HOUSE is important because normally they drop the kids off here when Pinky babysits, which interferes with my life). Alternatively, she could ask my mom to transport her, in exchange for whatever work around HER house my mom needs done. I mentioned it to Pinky last night, and she was very receptive to the idea. So that's encouraging.
Getting ready for a trip to San Francisco for a coding conference this weekend. While I love the chance to travel, especially to a city I've never been to before, I was dreading the trip a bit because all three of us (manager, front desk girl, and me) were slated to share one room. Not the worst way to spend a weekend, but definitely one that would make me feel I had to be "on" all the time in the way us introverts hate, plus I wouldn't get to enjoy my usual goodnight phonecalls with the T. Today my manager got to thinking that it would be a bit crowded with all three of us trying to share the space, so she decided to book a separate room for herself. And while I was using my lunch hour to buy travel supplies (itty-bitty bottles of shampoo, etc), she decided that she would prefer NOT to have a room to herself. So she and the other person talked and decided that *I* should get the solo room, because they know I talk to the T every night and they didn't want me to miss out on that.
AAAAAAWWWWWW... HOW SWEET IS THAT?
The phone calls, we could work around; we'd been prepared for that. But the ability to have my own room? Priceless.
The only downside to my travel plans is that I realized tonight I'd forgotten to get contact lens solution, because it wasn't in the "travel size" aisle, so it escaped my notice. I did discover that I have some at home. Which expired in 2009.
Now, expired shampoo, I wouldn't blink an eye at (NPI). But 4-year-old lens solution? I probably shouldn't fuck around with that. Which means another trip to the store on tomorrow's lunch hour. Sigh.
Still, all in all, a successful day.
