My little rock and roll queen

(I originally typed that as "clean." Make of that what you will.)

It's Pinky's 17th birthday today. As I type this, she's downstairs with her friends, eating sloppy joes and queso dip and watching movies. I HOPE. I reminded Mongo that he's totally allowed to go downstairs whenever he wants to be the annoying little brother. He responded, "Can I steal their food?" Given that I made four pounds of sloppy joes*, I think they can afford to share.

Many years ago, in the golden days of Napster, Cowpetter and I made a mix CD for GIJen on the occasion of her 17th birthday. It's a year that seems especially favored by songwriters. I wish I could remember all the songs we included. Here's a partial list:

Sexy and 17 (Stray Cats)
Dancing Queen (ABBA)
I Saw Her Standing There (Beatles)
Seventeen (Winger)
At Seventeen (Janis Ian)
Edge of Seventeen (Stevie Nicks)

I can't recall whether we included:
Sixteen (Going on Seventeen) (Sound of Music)
It Was a Very Good Year (Sinatra)

I wish I had remembered to do the same thing for Pinky. Because it would be AWESOME to force her to play that CD tonight, with her friends over and all.

*Four pounds of hamburger. I did not weigh the results after adding the sauce ingredients.
