My poor Schmoop is still at work tonight (as of this writing, 8 pm CST). I don't recall the details of what, exactly, he and his team are working on, other than that the client is THE client from hell and the go-between person is a pain in the ass, but it's crunch time for them. Every time they solve one problem, two more come up. I know the feeling, although thankfully, I haven't experienced it too often lately.
There's a terribly selfish bit of me that admits I'm glad it's happening this week, instead of next. Hopefully, most of the issues will be resolved before I get down there next Thursday, so he can be free to spend lots of time focused on ME!
In the meantime, I have a truckload of things to get done, most of which I'm beginning to suspect I won't accomplish.
- I have an appointment to get that fucking alignment done AGAIN on my car Monday morning, as well as replacing an oil sensor and some sort of computer reset that will finally make that "check engine" light go away for the first time in months. I'm hoping that replacing the oil sensor will include an actual oil change? Because that's overdue as well.
- I need to call for an appointment to get my hair cut and colored, but I doubt Linda will have time this Saturday and I don't know that I want to try to get it done Wednesday, when I should be spending the evening with my kids before I leave for six days.
- Mongo and I really should make a dump run on Saturday morning, to get half of the trash out of the garage.
- I still haven't done all the dishes from this past weekend.
- Need to run to a local store to take care of a secret errand which involves a present I meant to send the T for Xmas and now I will call a Valentine's gift.
- Cleaning my house enough so that if I die in a plane crash, I won't be posthumously embarrassed by the dust levels in my bathroom or the number of cigarette packs piled up in my bedroom, not to mention the secret box under the bed.
- Need to decide whether I'm packing a carryon or checking a bag for next Thursday's flight, and let the airline know, because it costs money either way, but more for a carryon, and it's cheaper if I decide more than 24 hours before the flight. Since I've got a layover at O'Hare, I'm tempted to go carryon, but that limits what I can bring, and requires more schlepping...
