Title: The Painter
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Ginny/? (thoughts of femmeslash pairing)
Words: 508
Warnings: Implied femmeslash
Summary: Dean taught Ginny to paint, her great escape from reality. Her models always willing to volunteer, shy and quiet, and forgetting the cardinal quality of a live model...nudity.
Beta: None
A/N: This is for the AWDT prompt, "You don't need clothes for this." This prompt took me forever to get a bunny for. I owe it all to wendy. I told her I was in the mood to write a female character instead of H/D for once. She spurred my bunny and I enjoyed the outcome.

Ginny walked through the dimly lit room to her awaiting easel. The soft light of the candles cast a warm glow on her soft features, and a fiery gleam in her hair. She smiled passionately as she rested the blank canvas in its place and waited for her model.

Ever since Dean had taught her to paint, Ginny could be found in the Room of Requirement, brush in hand. She enjoyed the release her new found outlet gave her. It was her way to get away from it all, to get lost in the blending of colors and the creation of new worlds.

“Don’t be shy,” she called over her shoulder to her model as she prepared her paints.

The quiet, slender woman moved hesitantly across the room, her long black hair swishing lightly at her back. She took a seat on the overstuffed chair at the center of the room and patiently watched as Ginny adding globs of color to a large board, mixing and blending a few in certain areas.

“Thanks for doing this, Cho,” Ginny said with a smile, noticing the other girls firm stare.

Cho looked around the room slowly, taking in her surroundings. “Where do you want me?” she asked softly.

Ginny looked up from her canvas again with another smile. She felt serene when she painted. She was thankful for those that volunteered to model for her and sometimes felt bad for what she had to ask from them.

“Well for aesthetic purposes, it would be helpful if you could sit sideways in the chair, with your legs draped over one side and your head lying against the other side. But realize that you’re going to be like that for a while, so try to find a comfortable position.”

Cho nodded slightly and turned to move into position. This was the moment Ginny hated when it came to the shy models.

“Oh, and I should mention…you don’t need clothes for this.”

At first Cho was shocked. Ginny expected as much. But surprisingly, Cho’s face softened dramatically and she gave a slight smile.

“I should have guessed as much.”

Ginny turned back to her paints as Cho began to disrobe. She couldn’t help catching a few glances here and there. Sure, she was going to be staring at her nude for hours, but there was something more intimate about a person undressing than one who was already undressed.

As Cho settled into position, Ginny’s mind began to race. Never before had she even thought to peer at one of her models as more than a form of art, of beauty. As she began to sketch Cho’s lithe form draped over the plush chair, Ginny wondered what was different about this time. What had changed?

Sketching Cho’s hair cascading across the arm of the chair, Ginny decided it was best to push all thought from her mind. She set herself to finish the task at hand and deal with the consequences of her emotions and hormones later. Things were going to be awkward enough.

At last, I can go to bed. Now I only have two fics left to complete and I have until tuesday. *sigh* I'll work on them tomorrow. Right now I just want to sleep.
