I just love John Edwards.
I know he's not the "in" candidate, not being black, or a woman, or remotely high profile, but my god, he's just so sensible and smart. You ask him a question, and he doesn't give you some charming little anecdote about a sick kid he hugged one day. He just gives you a plan. Getting out of Iraq? Gradual decrease of troops over a year. Saving American jobs? No more NAFTA, no more incentives or tax breaks for businesses exporting jobs. Healthcare? Universal healthcare, no more catering to big business, and a patient bill of rights.
He comforts me. I feel comfortable putting the country in his hands. Clinton or Obama? Not so sure. Hilary is a great congresswoman. She's done good things. But she's also done some hella shady things - Ken Starr was investigating her shady real estate deals when the whole Lewinski thing came up, and he only attacked Bill for that because he couldn't find the real dirt! And when she talks, it's all I did this and I did that and I was married to the president and I hug sick children! She never says what she -will- do. And Obama...meh. He's a great speaker, very inspirational, but does he give clearcut plans? Not that I've heard.
I'll be highly disappointed if either one of them gets the nomination. And heaven knows I don't trust any one of the republicans. McCain would be okay if he wasn't all over Bush's war plan. Yikes. Romney is effing nuts. Rudy is effing nutsier. Huckabee wants to beef up the army, as does Thompson, and they'll end up starting new arms races all over the globe. Hello, did we learn nothing from the Cold War? Clinton was right to start de-arming. It's just a shame the Republicans are all pussies and won't continue. Yeah, that's right. Behind all that macho, let's-kill-things-and-be-badass talk, they're really just cowards who want to hide behind missiles and tanks. It takes more courage to work for peace.
Ron Paul is groovy cool, but on the other hand, also effing nuts. I mean, he wants to do away with the income tax. Just how are you going to run the government without it? Sheesh. And he thinks privatizing is the answer to everything. Pssh. Privatizing is what screws eeeeverything up. But at least Ron Paul understands foreign relations.
Yeah. Give me Edwards. He's sort of...Kennedy-esque, but even more practical. I guess if I have to choose between Clinton and Obama, I choose Obama. I love the Clinton name, and I'm all for a woman in the White House, but I don't see her changing anything dramatically.
Aherm. Done now.
