3 things that make me mad

Aug 18, 2005 16:11

here's a list of things people say that make me mad. this is inspired by a post this idiot 15 year old made on his xanga -- i.e. he said these things. In no particular order.

1) Porn is disgusting, shameful, and should be illegal.

Preface that sentence with "Child" and I'd be okay with that statement. But while I don't really have much respect for those people who work in the sex industry, I don't think porn should be illegal. People who say or believe that probably have some issue with their own sexuality. America was founded by Puritans; their beliefs created a society in which sex is not natural, but disgusting, amoral, and taboo. I don't support this belief, and while I don't want everyone to walk around naked and have sex on street corners, I don't see why people cannot enjoy themselves without guilt. Especially if they need a little relief after a dry spell. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Porn isn't hurting anyone.

2) Pro-choice is murder.

Pro-choice gives pregnant women who will die in childbirth, whose pregnancy is due to rape, and who used multiple forms of contraception correctly a chance to live a longer life, to not have a reminder of a painful experience, and to wait for financial stability before she has a child. The state of California recently created a law concerning carpool lanes -- it states a pregnant woman does not count as two people. How can you murder what's not alive? That said -- pro-choice is not pro-abortion, it is just in favor of giving a woman the CHOICE to terminate a pregnancy. If you don't like abortion, don't have one. Just don't try to deny me of the choice to do with my body what I will.

3) Women need to stay at home with their families. Putting themselves first is selfish. Only men can be the breadwinners.

Um...you can call me a selfish bitch if you want, but I'm not at USC to learn how to cook and clean. I'm here to get an education and then I'm going to get a job in the film industry. When I have kids I'll probably choose to alter my schedule, but I'm not quitting my job. Then again, I don't really have a maternal bone in my body. I kind of think babies are boring. No offense to any of you who WANT to stay at home, just someone telling me that I can't follow my dreams pisses me off. If your dream is to have a family and be a stay at home mom (or dad), then by all means, go for it! Having the choice is what's important.

So in conclusion, sex is not evil, being pro-choice does not mean i want to kill a fetus, and specific "masculine" and "feminine" duties are ridiculous.

EDIT: I just realized that my past few entries have been when i've been mad. a lot of good stuff has been happening as well. i'll update that soon-ish :)
