At long last, dailies... but only a third of them for some reason. Reminds me of the good ol' days of finagling tapes (albeit to not much luck) from one stingy director. Fortunately, this shortage might be remedied.
The histograms for the Quicktime -- which are stretched to true HD, whereas this was shot on faux-pro HD (Varicam) -- are interesting to look at, since I'm doing another shoot in a month from now. Fortunately, the mud that comes with raw HD tended to be fixed by raising the whites and not touching the blacks, with a tiny push to the midtones.
And what a shoot. On location, with a brand new crew, working a lot of night exteriors, lots of favors and favoritism from the sidelines. It's always tricky when you go on location minus a promised light, with an already small light kit, so it's unfortunate to weigh on the side of underexposure with this film. But I see enough here in this third to feel fine about the edit, which is already done, but wasn't included on the drive I'm borrowing to get these.
Thoughts? I bet you can tell how this story goes without any captions.
