I must throw in my two and a half sense (sic) cinematixyz December 13 2011, 23:30:12 UTC
Hello fellow film reviewers and fans. I will eventually get around to reviewing some more things from the wonderfully warped world of David Lynch (besides DUNE, already reviewed on this blog, and my personal favorite Lynch film.... surprise! It's The Straight Story!) But back to Lynch's most realized world of Twin Peaks, a place where I myself wouldn't mind visiting if it were possible. I love the original show and was there during the initial television run and waited anxiously for each new episode. I attended viewing parties with like-minded friends and endlessly discussed the many facets of the characters and plot lines. When the TV show came to an abrupt end I lamented that we lost one of the most innovative and boundary pushing shows in history. Ah, but then came Fire Walk With Me and I was thrilled and horrified by the new ways Mr. Lynch twisted his locations and characters to new places. My favorite part of the film is the opening half hour where Agent Chester Desmond is thrown into the mystery of small town life deep in the forests of the pacific northwest, but seems to take everything in stride and even be readily aware and ready for the mysteries he is trying to unravel. Anyone who likes unusual films, weird murder mysteries, and symbolic puzzle-solving should take in this film, one of David Lynch's best. Television, movies, and you will never be the same. -XIM
