I haven't seen it yet so I am avoiding your actual review but just from your teaser, It's going on our list!!

Thanks... I NORMALLY don't like Horror, tho Xim and Yearrgsworth do, but just from your teaser, I think this is one I would dig..

Will come back once we have seen it. Thanks, R!!

Hello R! I saw this movie streaming on netflix. I was not really that excited because it looked to me to be yet another remake of an old classic (in this case EVIL DEAD 2.) But when I saw it had a role played by Sigourney Weaver (a favorite of mine from the Alien films - see my reviews on this blog!) I gave it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised and actually thought the twist (although far-fetched) was cool and was one I did not predict or expect. So I too recommend it for our readers. Please review more movies! It is good to see that our blog rolls on into 2014! -XIM

I've made this mandatory viewing for the players in my weekly role-playing game...it brings up a number of very hard ethical questions...

Oh, interesting! I think that's what I like about the 'meta' quality I saw in this - it doesn't give us a clear answer, but challenges on things that we've taken for granted in other like-minded movies. One thing I've always found horror lacks as a genre is an overarching sense of deity, and with people literally pulling the strings, it gives more of that than most horror films I've watched. ~R

The ending should have went like this: The Stoner should have admitted HE was a virgin, leaving the Girl to make the decision whether to kill herself to save the world. She jumps into the pit sacrificing herself for the good of the world-and we get a sequel in the process!

I rather liked that they didn't go that direction, because so many horror tropes are based on female suffering (aka torture porn) to accomplish the resolution of the story. But I can see your point for sequels.
