Now Your See Me ((No Spoilers In Review))

Yearrgsworth and I recently saw "Now You See Me" which I guess has enough stars to call it an 'all-star' cast. We didn't even remember what it was about. The way we do things in our home is due to my bad back, to sit through a three hour film with the Previews in those seats would be hell so we pass until I am fixed. SO when a good teaser, trailer, or one of you mention a great film, it goes on 'my list'. And now that I do it electronically, I have about 26 lists, each with 30 something titles, half books and half films. And we get them when we get them. So by the time we saw the trailer or mention for this, it went on my list, I added it to my list of holds on the library website when it got released. (Free movies, keep 1 to 3 weeks, can check out 4 extra times if there aren't holds...really is best way to go, especially with as much as we read and watch.) Usually I get in there and am one of the first, this time, we had a wait. So from the time we put it on the list (One of hundreds of movies or shows on my lists) to the time it's on the shelf when we hit the library once weekly, 3-12 months may have gone by for a new material and we forget what it was about the title we wanted to see so bad!!

Sometimes, we will jog our memories by reading the back and then go "OH YEAH!" but other times, we are brave and pop it in and go with it. If it was good enough to add to 'our lists', it's good enough for us to brave it!!

This film, in our opinion was AWESOME. One of the best we had seen (other than episodes of good shows) in weeks. It's not like "The Illusionist" or "The Prestige" which takes place in the Industrial revolution/Victorian age of magic and mysticism. This is Modern, present-day, Vegas-y and Brilliantly done. I am someone that can guess the killer within the first five minutes of Law & Order, CSI, or the real crime murder mystery show like Cops, but about the detectives in homicide and the first 48 hours after they are called in on a murder (Aptly titled "The First 48" and one of my favorite shows). I still watch some CSI but only the original or the Gary Sinese, NYC version. Even Y., who has known me a decade and 'put a ring on it' half that time ago marvels at how quickly I can pull the killer out of my bum and be right within the first segment, before the first commercial.

But I changed my mind on the mysteries of this film several times (though eventually I was right but it was almost over by the time I did so). I enjoyed it intellectually, it was fun, and it had a little bit of heart but wasn't saccharine sweet. I heard there will be a sequel and if so, we are SOOOO THERE!!

It also helped me get over my Amy Adam/Isla Fisher confusion. When they started rising up around the same time and I knew one was with Sasha Baron Cohen, I THOUGHT it was Amy and when I saw a picture of him at a party with the other actress I was like "What, cheating, break-up?, I am SO out of the gossip loop, it's usually not my bag." However, from this film on, I will NEVER confuse the talented Amy Adams with the equally talented, fun, and sexy Isla Fisher, EVER again.

It also has the unbelievable Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman who is not only an freaking GOD among other actors, but is in every single movie on earth practically. LOL. Seriously, that guy's energy is amazing. He could easily retire and his grandchildren's grandchildren will go to collage but he keeps leaving us these amazing pieces of work and is able, like Caine, to play ANYTHING. He can 'Drive Miss Daisy" to the Piggly Wiggly then be LITERALLY 'God' in a later film. He will never be out of style or a relic. In fact, like a fine wine, he seems to improve with age, if that is even possible.

Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, newcomer to the American screen, Melanie Laurent, Mark Ruffalo, and Dave Franco complete this cast of Detectives, Cops, and Magicians (or are they?) joining forces (or are they?) to do good... or evil... depending on the day and who you ask. You must HATE when I say this, but the less you know, the better and more fulfilling the film is. It's not for little kids, but if they are in double digits it should be okay, unless you have a problem with a few four letter words.

Keep in Mind, the review was Spoiler-Free but the comments won't be so if you haven't seen it and plan to (which you should seriously do!!), please stop reading here and come back after you see it so people can talk about the plot more in depth in the comments. Remember, this film is essentially a Mystery and it's best to keep it as such!!

Love to all Film Fans!!
