Me too. What is weird is I haven't seen it since...Let's see, I'm 33...I'd say 20 years.
And when Mrs. Peacock does that long chatterbox delivery at the table, I knew it word for word "..but I am DETERMINED to enjoy myself and oh my, very intrigued, and this soup's delicious, isn't it??"
And I looked at Y. and said, 'I swear, I haven't seen this probably since I discover Rocky Horror in '91/'92' but as one overpaid Canadian once sang "but it's all coming back to me now..."
"I hated her SOOOOO much...that it flamed..FLAMES..on the side of my face....flames..heaving, breathless...heaving flames...."
Hahaha!! "I'm going to go home and sleep with my wife!" *cue music*
That Madeline Kahn bit is so stinking funny, too. She was so brilliant. It's funny how things like that stick with you. I can't remember four things to get at the grocery store without a list, but I can perform Tim Curry re-enacting the series of murders for the guests with perfect cadence despite not having seen it for years. "Picked up the dagger... rrrrun down the hall!"
And speaking of Eileen Brennan, did you ever see Murder By Death? She's hilarious in that, as well.
But who'd want to kill the cook? Dinner wasn't that bad?cinematixyzJune 18 2013, 12:46:31 UTC
"How can you make jokes at a time like this??"
"It's my defense mechanism..."
"Some defense, if I had been the one to kill her, I'd kill you next!!If...I said 'IF'.. Besides, there is only one admitted killer here and it's certainly not me it is HER!!!"
"I've admitted nothing...."
"How many husbands have you had?!?"
"Mine or other women's??"
"Yours"
"Five."
"FIVE?!?!?"
"Yes, just the five..husbands should be like Kleenexes..soft, strong, and disposable.."
Re: No, but I will put it on our list...ssilverfishJune 18 2013, 12:04:36 UTC
"I... am... your singing telegram!" *gunshot*
Murder By Death is great. Take all the iconic sleuths and give them a locked-house murder mystery hosted by Truman Capote. I didn't get most of the character references until I was adult, but even as a kid, I thought it was hilarious. I made my husband watch it with me maybe five years ago and he loved it. We were impressed with the starpower of the cast, too -- even has a very young James Cromwell in his first film role!
I love Clue so much. I watched it a million times during my formative years. :)
