If you ARE a Newbie, You can read the first half and I will draw a line when I start talking about spoilers so it doesn't ruin it for you. Trust me, you will want to learn everything as you go.
Because we have seen ALMOST the entire First Season EXCEPT the last two episodes. If this drives you crazy, just wait a week, and we will have seen it.
RARELY does a new show come along that grips me. To give you a clue, my all time fave shows are the late 80's/early 90's "Twin Peaks", late 60's "The Prisoner", 80's thru...."Red Dwarf", '63 through until now (thank dog) "Doctor Who", early 60's "Twilight Zone", "Torchwood", "The First 48", late 60's/ early 70's "Monty Python". Half American, Half British, 60's through most of the 80's with RARE exceptions. This is one of those.
Normally I would wait until I watched all there was and do a review or at least finish the first season. Yet I haven't even done THAT yet and this is the SECOND time I am telling people how bloody fantastic this show is!!
If you haven't seen it yet, you don't even have to like gangster pictures, the 20's, or any of that to enjoy this. It's just an amazing damn show and if it continues or gets better as they say, it might end up in my Top 20 of all time and that is HARD to do. Okay, Empire Virgins, time to stop reading =)

Okay fellow fans, like I said, we still have the final two episodes to watch in the First Season. To give you a reminder as to where Y. and I are:
1)Nuck and Margaret are together and she has seen the ledger. She is currently being guarded by Richard who she just let listen to her read 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' and apologized for her earlier coldness.
2)Jimmy just came back and -almost- got to kill Lucky Luciano who was sleeping with Gillian (Gretchen Mol) his sexy mother (remember, Gretchen also played Bettie Page!) before that creepy, religious, sexually repressed and weirdo Fed got there and stopped him.
3)Jimmy is not in jail because the Fed's partner killed the only witness.
4) Richard killed Liam, the man that maimed Pearl and caused her to commit suicide.
5) Chalky just found who he'd been looking for and shot the Klan prick that lynched his friend.
6) Back in Chicago, at a Bar Mitzvah, Al Capone talks to a Jewish man at a Synagogue who explains to him that the purpose is to become a man and be responsible for your actions and tells him he should wear a yamaka to cover his head with instead of wearing the cap of a boy. This gets Al thinking and he chucks the yuks, the cap, and tells his boss he is ready to be a man "responsible for his own actions."
(Side note- I really enjoyed this because for years, bios said that after the war, Capone was a kidder, wore a cap, clowned around, etc. Then somewhere in '20...'21 he grew balls/grew up, started wearing his trademark fedora and suddenly "Got down to the business of business". Yet there was no explanation of how or why this change came to pass. It's like in the FairyTale...I mean, the Bible..how Jesus has those "missing, unexplained" years. Same thing. No explanation was ever given in Capone bios about his sudden change in looks, dress, attitude and personality. They usually just print that he just grew up and wanted to make the money the bosses did. Yet this talk in the Synagogue sparking such a radical departure from youthful behavior in Al was a great creative way to explain away the "Capone Change")
7)Eli was shot while Nucky was in Chitown and once he returned, he was shot at, his loyal valet warned and pushed him out of the way, shot at the assassin, and the bullet meant for NUcky instead killed an innocent tourist woman on the boardwalk.
8)Jimmy beats up his wife's 'kissing friend' whom his young son points at in a picture in the window of a photography shop. In actuality, he was pointing to Angela's lover, the photographer's WIFE. I CALLED this in the 3rd or so episode, when Jimmy saw that photo of Angela. As a Bisexual woman myself, I said to Y. "The photographer didn't take that, the wife did...a woman of that era wouldn't let a man other than her own take 'boudoir' shots of her. It had to be the wife. And the smile on her face wasn't one you would give to a Dough Boy fighting in the Great War. It was a smile you would give to the person snapping the frame...as a former model, I know this of amateurs. And that was a woman, not a man." I was further convinced by Gillian's remark about Angela being a 'Bohemian' type. I knew she didn't just mean because she was an artist...it had to mean because she was a lesbian or at the very least, bi.
9)And finally, women just got the vote so Nucky is having Margaret speak to women on whom *he* wants in the mayor's seat, while her newest friend is the concubine and 'baby mama' to future president, Warren Harding's love-child (to use an anachronistic term).
Okay, so that is.
EVERY episode ends like a Season Finale ending would. This show is SOOOOOO damn good!!!
I had about 6 more pictures, including of Gillian, Richard, and Chalky since we are fond of them, and more of the The Boardwalk and Nucky but LJ has decided to stop letting me do pictures today....great.
Well, I guess that is it for now, stay tuned for we will answer the poll's request later this weekend!!
