"She's a Sookie....Stackhouse...she's mighty mighty, just letting it all hang out". I mean really, who got that name through all the hands that script went through? Anyway.
Well, the show is based off a book series (The Southern Vampire Mysteries), so the writers/producers didn't really have a say. But, as far the name Sookie goes, it's a very traditional southern name, that's why Charlaine Harris chose it. :)

I'll be honest, I used to love True Blood. The first season is great and the third is brilliant. The rest... is a train wreck. It really makes me sad. I much prefer the books, they're so much fun. Each season I keep hoping it'll get good again.

I was raised in the South and never heard it, but still, to pair it with 'Stackhouse', even my editor would think I was smoking crack. But it's so....her..you know, it's cute and doesn't know it's cute.

I LOVED Anna since "The Piano" and her ear for accents is a gift. She did the smart thing... Got her Oscar as a little one...disappeared for the awkward years, and emerged as an adult actress. Most try to work through those years and other than Jodie Foster and a couple others (Natalie Wood comes to mind), most fail.

I hate to hear it goes downhill, but at least we have a few good seasons in front of us (and thanks for the info on the books, I was in the dark about those).

And hey, even "Scarlett O'Hara" was "Pansy O'Hara" for a decade while Mitchell was writing it until David O. Selznick said no way and they changed it to Scarlett. I would say "what's in a name", but seriously, I have had that song stuck in my head for days and it's maddening. LOL.

All I know is that that's what Charlaine Harris has said about the name. *shrug* That it's a traditional southern name and that it was also her grandmother's friend's name. (Or something along those lines.) I.... have no clue where Stackhouse came from, lol. I don't know; I've always loved the name. It fits her.

Yeah, Anna is great. That being said... I hate the way Sookie is written on the show. That's nothing against Anna, it's just really bad writing. I'm a huge fan of the books and book!Sookie is way calmer and less annoying about things.

I really hate the way the show has gone as well. Like I said, season 1 is great and season 3 is brilliant. The less said about the other seasons the better.

The books are so much fun. They're not wonderfully written or anything like that. They're just fun supernatural mysteries that are easily gobbled up. Also, they're way less porn-y than the show. That's another thing that bothers me about the show, it really does border on porn a lot of times, which gets super old, super-fast ( ... )

That's EXACTLY what David O. Selznick said when reading the original manuscript. But then again this is a guy that not only added the "O" to his name just for flourish (He has no 'O' middle name) but intelligently married Louis B. Mayer's daughter, Irene, prompting the behind set door's joke "The 'son-in-law' also rises".

Speaking of which, i almost lost my s%$t when Tara says to that redneck "My momma named me, a black child, after a plantation...isn't that funny?!?" and when he laughs, she says "I don't think so, I think that's pretty cruel and FUCKED UP!!!"

I swear, a little diet pepsi came out my nose.....
