This is easily one of my 10 favorite movies. I didn't see it when it first came out but did get to see it on a big screen later with Terry Gilliam's original ending restored. This is another one of those movies, similar to Welle's Magnificent Ambersons, where the studio wanted a happier, hopeful ending so they changed it from what the director originally had.
The first time I saw it I shook my head and thought, "oh, those crazy bureaucracies!"As I get older and society changes, I find it less and less amusing and more prescient.
It's probably been a couple of years since I've seen this, I really need to dig it out.
