Snoring

In the last couple weeks, Bryan has started snoring at night. In the 4+ years we've been together he has NEVER been a snorer. These days, he snores so loudly that I can't sleep. I've spent a night on the couch, he has graciously moved to the couch a few times so I can sleep peacefully in the bed, but that is not a long-term solution ( Read more... )

Breathe rite strips can work. Sleeping on his side will help too. Is he having any allergies? Maybe a decongestant would help?

Ear plugs would probably work. But the problem there is you might not hear your alarm.

My mother is the most obnoxious snorer I've ever heard. I have no idea how my Dad puts up with it. When we moved from Madison to Austin the family lived in one of those extended stay hotels. There were 2 bedrooms so I had to sleep on the floor in the living room. The snoring was so bad that I finally resorted to ear plugs. They worked but I would not consider them a long term solution. I have a nice supply of gel earplugs in case of emergency but I'm so sensitive to their presence that it's as comfortable to sleeping with socks on. Even though they work, you will be aware that something is plugging up your ears. I never feel as rested as when I don't sleep with them.

Jen snores. I use these blue earplugs called Hearos. They are very soft and have serious noise blockage. Most drug stores have them or Target as well. I got used to wearing them in about 4 or 5 days. I do still hear my alarm though. Nose strips can help or better yet there are mouth guards designed to pull the chin forward to eliminate snoring. It would take time for him to get used to it.

Honestly, I use the plugs even when she is not there. I need a coffin-like environment to sleep sometimes so I even use (make joke here) a sleeping mask as well.

I feel your pain.

Also, make sure you insert the plugs correctly. Most people do not. They should be rolled tightly then pushed down into your ear canal. You may even have to lift your ear by pulling upward on top of your ear to get the canal to open up some.
