Yesterday, at LAX, there was a line to check baggage that stretched so far: the line stretched past the US Airways terminal and past a parking lot all the way to another terminal. (we took pictures of this to prove that I'm not exaggerating. will post later) We waited in line to check our bag for 2 HOURS! Once we got to the front, we were told that our bags were being checked in late: needed to be checked in 45 min before the flight, and we had 44 min to the flight. I'm not exaggerating, we were 1 min late, seriously, and only bc we stood in line for 2 hours!!!! I argued with the guy but he just said, "we'll do our best to get your bags on your flight."
The security line took the entire 44 remaining minutes and we had to sprint to our gate.
Once in Chicago, we discovered that only 1 of our bags was on our flight (Bryan's bag, to be exact.) So, they told us that my bag would be on the next flight in from LAX: that flight was delayed so we had 2 hours to kill. So, my mom took us up the road to Giordanos and after dinner, we returned to the airport to claim my bag. There, we discovered that the flight was delayed ANOTHER couple hours. By this time, it was past 10pm and my brother had been home alone for hours and we couldn't wait around any longer (and had an hour+ drive out to my mom's in front of us.)
The customer service woman said they would not ship my bag to me because (and this is a direct quote from her to me, bryan will verify) "It's YOUR fault the bag was late checked, so we are not responsible for getting it to you." I told her that no other airline at LAX was disorganized enough to have this happen. No lines this lone anywhere else, and this woman had the audacity to stiffen, look me in the eye and say, "that's because everyone knows we are the best airline and they only want to fly the best."
So, I have NO clothes, NO hats, mittens, scarves, etc, and my medications are also in that bag. We were given a number to call and told that if we called, they would be able to tell us if the bag had arrived. (Otherwise we will drive an hour+ to Midway jsut "to see" if the bag is there.) So, we called and guess what: its automated and they said to leave a message and they'll get back to us.
I would not be nearly as angry if that woman hadn't had the fucking audacity to tell me it was my fault the bag was late. I'm sure she deals with angry ppl all day but give me a fucking break. Your airline is the best?? No, you airline in the cheapest, and I guess we all get what we pay for. (I woudl like to add that the Southwest baggage claim was SUCH a mess: "late" bags in piles EVERYWHERE! And, guess what: none of the other airline baggage claims looked so messy and filled with ppl's missing bags.
Wish us luck! We head to Midway in an hour. Fingers Crossed!!!
