bed buddies

Some days are just meant to be spent in bed--or, at the very least, comatose on the couch. A grey, rainy Sunday after daylight savings time clearly overqualifies for such status. With that in mind, I decided to go back to my bed and have a wee afternoon nap. One small problem: Parker had claimed the pillow--and by extension, the entire bed--for his own self.

The thing with cats is that it's never a two-way street with them. It's alright for them to join you in a nap and attempt to take over the whole bed, but you try and do that with them and they won't have any of it. Not easily, anyway. After all, why should your cat yield to you? You just think you own them. On the other hand, they know they own everything, including you. No further discussion.

I took what I could get, bundling up in my comforter and laying in the bottom 3/4ths of the bed. Eventually, Parker took pity on me and moved over a little bit, so I could claim a piece of the pillow. Naturally, I took him up on his offer--which only invited passive-aggressive tail-thumping on his part, like I could lay there, but Lord help me if I tried to get some sleep. Judging by the way his tail thumped and tickled my chest, he was serious.

Fortunately, falling asleep is not a hard thing for me to do.

As you can tell, it's been a lazy day around Casa Cinema today. About the most I did was almost all of the dishes. The most dad did was go to my uncle's to help him with some plumbing issue he was having. Dinner came from Pizza Hut, drinks came from my personal soda reserve. If we were any more laidback, we'd be dead.

But then, isn't that really what grey, rainy Sundays after daylight savings time are about?
