my free world includes the library

There's a gaggle of toddlers in the front row. Their eyes are wide, their ears are covered with industrial-grade hearing protection, and their hipster parents are right behind them. Seated right next to them is a pack of Sassy Grrrls, who are clad in the same attire as their forebearers from over a decade ago: jeans, cardigans, Chucks with writing and doodling on them, and hair in messy pigtails. Dancing right in front of the stage, you have a middle-aged, old-school punk rock woman in buckle-and-flame-adorned boots and an old CGBG's tank top. And filling out the room, you have a variety of likely and like-minded people, all there to view a mini-gallery of Bev Davies' punk photography from the '70s and 80's and watch the Evaporators play. Cool.

One last thing: did I mention that this was at the library?

Now that I've finished blowing your mind, I'd like to mention the Nardwuar Vs. Bev Davies 2007 Punk Rock Calendar. For a mere $12, not only does it give you all 365 days scheduled for next year, but it throws in December 2006 for free! And if there's another calendar out there that lets you ring in the new year with Motorhead, celebrate Halloween with the Dead Kennedys, and deck the halls with the Ramones, it probably doesn't feature all the neat pictures and stories found within the interview with Bev Davies. As far as I'm concerned, there is no finer thing to hang in that spot you always hang your calendar in. Unless, of course, your local pharmacy or bank has a really kickass free calendar. But I doubt that.
