My new long hair has brought out the girly in me. I upgraded my shampoo from Suave to Herbal Essences (the latter was on clearance sale, natch--so of course I stocked up), I bought a brush, and fix my hair whenever I see my reflection. But it's so worth it, this new luxury of long, flowing hair that I can run my fingers through and play with. As hairdresser as my witness, I will never get it cut short again. Ten years of short, thinning hair was more than enough.
Of course, my hair isn't perfect. There's a few strands up front that have refused to grow--so it looks like I'm rocking some short bangs. Not only that, but the hint of wave and curl that I had and hated during my childhood has returned. Still, I try not to let either bother me. Sure, everybody else's hair is asymmetrical on purpose and as straight as my dad--but as my mom told me when I was a kid and I told her when I was a teenager, I'm not everybody else. Besides, give me my unfortunate long hair over the hair I had during my diseased and medicated period any day.

Did I ever tell you that I love Threadless? There's just something about being able to go online and order up some new shirts as soon as they're printed up. A few clicks and numbers, and in a matter of days, I've got new shirts that are all but guaranteed to fit, look good, and get compliments. Sure, I suppose I could wander over to the store on Main that sells Threadless--but they never seem to have the girly one size shirts.
Of course, you have to act fast to get the girly one sizers online, too. Take last week's new shirts, for example. The minute I saw a particular shirt, I knew I had to have one. So I ordered it as soon as possible. That was early Wednesday morning. By Monday afternoon, I had
my prized shirt. When I went to visit its online home on Tuesday, they were sold out of the girly sizes. And as of this writing, it's sold out of all but the smalls and the XXLs for the boys.
If you're lucky, they might get around to doing a reprint like they did for
Obi-Wan Kerisst and
Dark Side of the Garden. But even then, you'd have to act fast--you don't need to be an economist to know that the popular shirts sell out fast.
Now, if only I could find a pair of ladies jeans that feel like real jeans, I'd be set.
