Ya'll Come Back Now, Ya Here? Part One

I forgot to tell some of you that I was going to GA and TN last week, but wanted to update everyone on what we did. It happened to be one of the best times I've ever had visiting my grandparents up there. I would post pictures, which is what I usually do, but, as of now, don't count on it.

Monday we visited my aunt and uncle in GA. They live outside of Atlanta. They were doing well, we had dinner with them and walked around a cute nearby city. They were leaving for a trip the next day, so we couldn't spend the night with them.

Tuesday we visited my two cousins and their four kids. The last time I saw one of the kids (about a year and a half ago), he was this adorable little baby. Although he's still adorable, he can walk now, and he had a full head of hair. It's just amazing how fast kids grow!

As we were driving towards Grandmommy (GM) and Granddaddy's (GD) house, it started raining really hard near Chattanooga, TN. My dad didn't want to drive it so we stopped at a pretty good place afterwards called The Smokehouse. It was a good buffet, with true Southern cookin'!

As we expected, GM and GD were sitting out in the driveway when we pulled in, waiting for us. I LOVE my grandparents! My GM actually reminds me a lot of myself, but anyway, we gave hugs and sat and talked the rest of time. Wednesday is when the fun began.

Since GM knows I work at a public library, we went to the Nashville Public Library. We had to take a detour and ended up near Broadway St in downtown Nashville. Broadway is where all the country hopefuls hope to be discovered at. It's just bar after bar. I can't imagine how cool it must be to go there at night, listening to all that country music. And, although we didn't go inside, I got my picture made in front of the Ryman Auditorium. The Ryman is the original site of the Grand Old Opry.

The library ended up being amazing. The main lobby had marble flooring and beautiful wooden help desks. It looked like an upscale hotel. Just a tad bit different than mine! Next stop was the Loveless Cafe. On the way, we drove past the beautiful Vanderbilt campus. I'd really love to go there, but it's too expensive...WAY too expensive! We also drove through Centennial park. It has the replica of the Parthenon. I'm not sure if it's a famous park, but it seems everyone in the family gets taken taken there by GM and GD!

The Loveless Cafe was really wonderful. They're famous for their biscuits and they did not disappoint. I could've made a meal out of the biscuits alone! They were delicious. My sister and I got the Watermelon ribs. Apparently, the ribs are soaked in watermelon juice before being grilled. Whatever they did, they were really good.

After lunch, we headed to the gift shop. We ended up meeting the lady who makes those famous biscuits. We had seen her on Martha Stewart's show, which is how we found out about the Cafe. My sister asked for a picture with her and she said, "Sure, honey!", put her arms around us and smiled. It was too cool!
