New guild...

Well, I've joined a new guild... Clan of Woe.  It seems good so far.  The people seem very easygoing and calm, and very nice to each other and respectful of each other.   Both Brian and I joined with our main toons, and within a few minutes, we were on our way to ICC to try our hand against the Lich King.

This is a picture I took of us goofing off while we waited for my husband to get there with Bmo.

Anyway, the fight didn't go extremely well lol... I think we'd get the LK down to about 60-65% and then we'd wipe in phase 2, but it is a mechanics fight and unfortunately the only way to really get it is to keep at it.   But you know... it was fun.  Even though we wiped over and over, it was fun.  No one lost their cool, no one got upset.  We'd wipe, and then they'd have a calm discussion about what we could do better the next try.  "Okay, healers... make sure you get Bmo dispelled of the plague when he gets it, and he'll be gettting it a lot since he's the one tanking the horrors.  Bmo, you might want to call out when you have it next time..." and just stuff like that.  Very calm.  We also laughed a lot at our own foibles.

The only issue I can see with this guild is the fact that they are pretty well-stocked.  That is generally a good thing, but the only reason they needed me last night in ICC was because the other ranged dps that was on had gotten himself saved to another 10 man ICC, and the only reason they took Bmo is because the other tank d/c'd and couldn't get back on.

After we left the Guild-Formerly-Known-As-Knights of Disorder (currently Vanquished Souls), my husband and I, and a few other friends, were undecided as to what to do.  I still have friends on another guild we used to belong to, and I honestly would have loved to go back with them.  Their raid leader is, so far, the best raid leader I've ever run with.  But, I have reason to believe the guild master of that guild is still a bit put out by us leaving before, when we had scheduling conflicts, and it would be awkward if we came back.  I wouldn't want to cause any issues in that guild or step on anyone's toes; I like the people in it way too much for that.  So... here we are in Clan of Woe.

Clan of Woe is a good guild, with good people... but I don't know how active we will end up being as far as raiding.  And I hesitate to recommend to my friends to come and join, simply because I know we all want to be active raiders and I just don't know how that would pan out in this guild.   They seem casual and relaxed almost to a fault, which can be good if you don't want a high-stress guild, but can be bad if you want to be active and raid a lot.  They also don't do 25 mans.  They don't even try to get them together.  They seem to pride themselves on being a 10-man only guild.   I don't know if they will pug in with other 25 mans individually or not (I assume they do) but as far as Clan of Woe starting up a 25 man guild raid?  Nope, not going to happen.

In Cata, of course, that won't matter... so that's not as big of a deal as it would be otherwise.

But... I've told myself I'm going to give them at least a few weeks to a month to see how things go.  There's no huge rush to make any decisions or big changes.   It's as my husband said... if they don't need us on raid night, we'll play our alts and we'll still have fun, which is the whole point of the game anyway.  And who knows, we still may decide to create our own guild eventually, as some of my game friends have suggested.  Who knows what will happen in the future... but I do know one thing, I don't ever want to be a part of a guild that makes me feel bad, and like an inferior player and that I don't matter, ever again.  Everything else is secondary to that.

In other news, I got exalted with Skyguard!  :D

This is the nether ray mount that you get from them.  Isn't it awesome?  It's so big, though... wow.  But look, I don't know if you can see it very well in the picture, but down next to the mount's tail, there is a baby nether ray.  It's a pet!  The Nether Ray Fry pet... which you can also get when you are exalted with Skyguard.  How cute is that?

Skyguard rep is a loooong and boring grind, which mostly involves killing those bird-people of Skettis.  Once you get Honored, though, you can go to Blade's Edge Mountains and get some more quests up there.  Some of the quests were really fun...

Like this one... where you become Queen of the Ogres and they all gather around you in a huge crowd, bowing and kneeling to you, and drinking from the big kegs, dancing the "Farley" and generally having a huge party.  It was a hoot... I don't know how long it lasted, but it was at least 10 or 15 minutes before I finally left... and the party was still going strong!

Also this daily, where you needed to "wrangle" five nether rays and bring them in to be trained as mounts for the Skyguard.  There is an achievement that goes along with this, where you have to get all five wrangled within a certain amount of time, like two minutes.  I was thinking that achievement would be impossible, until I figured out you can use your flying mount while you do it!  That said, I still didn't get the achievement done yet, but close!

Also, random blood elf death knight is random, lol.

Anyway, that is a neat rep to grind if you want a cool new flying mount... I tell you, the stuff in Burning Crusade looks so much cooler than a lot of stuff in Wrath.  I missed a lot of those things because I was in such a rush to get to 80, but now I'm starting to understand why a lot of the veterans of the game still think BC is the better expansion pack.

At least until Cata comes... we hope, lol!
