Summary: It's been five years since the last Nukapalooza and three since Van and Jake have seen each other, but the feelings are still there. A reunion might be just what they need.
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the cracky story idea.
A/N: This story was Dani's idea. She wanted a reunion story where they ended up together and out and proud. Hope you're happy with it my lovely girl!
Jake lay quietly on his side, almost unwilling to fall asleep because he was afraid this if he did, the man snoring softly beside him would be gone when he woke up. He just couldn’t believe that Van was really there after so long.
It was hard to believe that the night before Jake had walked into the Nuke reunion luncheon not knowing what was going to happen and had walked out hand in hand with the person who made his world complete.
~~**~~
It had been almost 8 years since they’d met and the chemistry had been almost instantaneous. It hadn’t taken long for them to fall into the roles of Luke and Noah and the chemistry on-screen had been as amazing as that behind the scenes.
The only difference was that behind the scenes, they were firmly in the just-friends category. Jake was straight (at least that’s what he kept telling himself) and Van wasn’t all the way out yet and a few nights of drunken kisses and passing out in the same bed together didn’t mean anything.
By the time of the last Nuke Luncheon and Nukapalooza night, the stress of them both denying how they felt had that famous chemistry ready to explode along with the fandom. A few too many bottles of wine between them and a knock-down, drag out fight in a hotel room had left them barely speaking.
When Van had moved to California in pursuit of a movie and television career, the sparse e-mails and phone calls had faded into nothing and before Jake knew it, three years had passed without speaking a word to the person he once considered to be the person closest to him in the world.
He thought about him a lot though. Whenever he popped up on screen, either in a movie or on television, Jake always had someone ready to tell him when Van would be on and Jake never missed it.
Van’s absence had left a huge, aching pit in his chest that had never been filled by anyone else, and god knows he’d tried. At first there had been a few monogamous relationships with beautiful women who he’d cared a lot about, but never fell as in love with as he thought he should be.
When that hadn’t worked, he’d decided that it was hopeless and had thrown himself into his work. He took any job that interested him and after a long string of fairly successful plays, “The Revival” had finally hit the big screen in late 2014. It had turned out to be even more of a success than he’d ever imagined it could be and the talk of an Oscar in 2016 was both exciting and terrifying.
When a delivery guy had pulled up in front of his door the day after opening night with a huge balloon bouquet and a box, he hadn’t thought anything of it…until he opened the box. Inside was a stack of comic books he hadn’t seen in years and a note.
“A bet’s a bet. First Oscar nomination is yours. It was fucking amazing Jake.”
The comics were Van’s, at least they had been. They’d made a bet one night saying that if Jake got the first Oscar nomination, he’d get a specific stack of Van’s comics…all the ones he’d needed for his collection. If Van had got the first one, he would get Jake’s original Gameboy along with all the games that went with it.
Sitting there looking at the comics, Jake had been overwhelmed by the fact that not only had Van seen the movie…on opening night no less…but had loved it so much. He missed Van more than ever and he’d been fooling himself to think that it was getting any better.
Sleep had been a long time coming that night, and a lot of nights after, and so when he’d received the invitation to the 5 year Nukapalooza reunion event, he’d accepted without hesitation. It might be the only chance he’d have to make things right and he wasn’t about to give it up.
He knew that Van was living in New York again. He’d moved back a couple of years before after breaking up with his boyfriend and deciding that California wasn’t the place for him after all…or so he said in the interviews he’d given for the TV show he was currently starring in. The crime drama suited Van’s personality perfectly and Jake hadn’t missed an episode since it debuted as a mid-season replacement just after Christmas.
As the time for the reunion got closer, Jake got more and more nervous. He wanted to see Van so much but he was terrified about what would happen when they were finally face to face.
The day of the reunion, he almost didn’t go as last minute jitters threatened to overwhelm him but the thought of the disappointing the fans finally had him making his way to the hotel. He was glad it was a different one than the original. That place had held too many ghosts of the past and it would have felt like one more thing they would have had to overcome.
He was early, of course. Being late just wasn’t his style and he was immediately greeted by the fans that were waiting around the lobby to be let in. Many of them were familiar faces and he let himself get lost in reminiscing until the doors were unlocked and they could all make their way into the pub where it was being held.
After meeting with several of the organizers, Jake snuck over to hide in the private room that had been set aside for him and Van and he’d hoped that they’d get a chance to talk before they had to make an appearance. All too soon, however, he was being summoned to the stage and his heart was breaking because Van still hadn’t shown up.
He was standing in front of a microphone, trying to figure out what to say when the outer door slammed open and Van stalked into the room. Walking straight to the stage, he jumped up and grabbed the microphone.
“Sorry I’m late folks. Being on time has never been my best subject and I’m gonna have to ask you to give us a few more minutes before we get started. I need to talk to Jake and then we’ll be coming back to party with you all!”
The fans started screaming as Van grabbed Jake by the hand and pulled him off stage and down the hall. Looking around, he spotted the door to the private room and shoved Jake through it and following him in. Slamming the door behind him, Van took a moment to turn and engage the lock before facing Jake again.
Jake couldn’t help but smile. Van was even more gorgeous now than he was when they were still on the show. His hair was longer than Luke’s had ever been allowed to be and Jake’s fingers itched to run through it.
“What are you smiling about?”
Jake shook his head. “Nothing…I don’t know. You!”
“You’re laughing at me?” Van was trying to sound pissed but Jake could hear the hurt under it.
“No, I’m not laughing at you. I’m happy to see you and I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve seen this handsome face in person.” Moving to stand in front of Van, he lifted his hand and carefully trailed his fingertips over Van’s cheek.
“Are you high? Because you’re acting really weird.” Van look so adorably confused that Jake couldn’t help laughing out loud.
“I’m acting weird? You’re the one who stormed in here and dragged me off to somewhere private. You planning to kidnap me and keep me as your sex slave Van?” He leered at Van, laughing all the harder when the other man used both hands to push him down onto the couch. “Bet the fans are still hoping for that.”
Jake knew he was being ridiculous but he couldn’t help it. He’d missed being able to tease his best friend and his look of confused outrage was just too funny to give up.
Van was pacing the floor in front of the couch, muttering under his breath. “Stupid big dumbass with his perfect eyes and perfect muscles.”
Jake just sat back and waited. Sooner or later Van would come out with what he needed to say. It always took him a while to work things out in his head.
“What are we doing here Jake? I mean seriously, what the fuck?” Van stopped in front of the couch and looked down him.
“Well, I’m here for a couple of reasons. We’ve had some of the best fans anyone could ever ask for and I don’t mind making them happy once in a while.” Sliding until he was perched on the edge of the couch, he reached up and tentatively put his hands on Van’s hips, letting his thumbs inch up under Van’s black t-shirt until they touched soft warm skin. “But mostly I’m here for you.”
Van shuddered under his hands and ran his fingers through Jake’s hair. “You’re here for me? What does that even mean?” Van looked down at him, hope and fear showing in those eyes that haunted his dreams.
Jake lifted Van’s t-shirt a little until a strip of skin was showing and leaned forward so that he could nose at the soft hair under Van’s navel before kissing above the waistband of his jeans. “I’m here because I realized that the only person I need in my life and in my bed is you. If that’s where you want to be.” He looked up, locking his gaze with Van’s and letting everything he was feeling show in his eyes. “I’m here for you.”
Van threaded both hands into Jake’s hair and pulled his head back, searching his face for something. “Fuck it.” Pushing Jake against the sofa, he climbed into his lap. He took Jake’s face in both hands and kissed him gently at first and then more insistently.
Jake groaned and wrapped his arms around Van’s waist, pulling him closer, so they were pressed together. When they finally had to pull back and breathe, Van looked down at him. “I’ve wanted to do that sober for years.”
Chuckling, Jake slid his hands up to curl over Van’s shoulders, pulling him down and kissing him again. The feeling of hard muscle under his hands and Van’s hard cock grinding against his was the hottest thing Jake had ever felt and he wanted more.
Pushing Van back, he grabbed his own shirt and pulled it over his head before reaching for Van’s, only to be stopped with a hand on his arm.
“Christ, Jake. Let me make sure the door’s locked before you take any more clothes off.” Van slid off Jake’s lap and stared down at him for a second. “No one gets to see you like this but me.” He hurried to the door and flipped the lock and then turned back to look at Jake on the couch.
Jake could see the hunger in Van’s eyes as he trailed them over Jake’s body. Standing up, Jake slowly slid his hands down his chest and stomach until his fingers were at the button-fly of his jeans. He popped the buttons, smiling at how Van’s breathing got a little more ragged with each one.
“You’re not the only one who’s been waiting Van.” He toed off his shoes and kicked them aside. “I’ve been remembering those drunken touches in my dreams.” Hooking his fingers in the waistband of his jeans, he pushed them down taking his underwear with them until they were sitting at mid-thigh.
Jake wasn’t vain. Whatever the fans said, he thought he was pretty average looking and that was fine with him. But one of the ways he’d been working out his frustrations lately was long sessions at the gym. The result was toned abs and a defined chest and the lust flaring in Van’s eyes let him know that it had been worth all the effort.
Never taking his eyes from Van’s face, he took his cock into his hand and stroked it a couple of times. “See anything you like Van?”
The sound that left Van’s mouth was nothing short of a growl. He crossed the room and slapped Jake’s hand away before falling to his knees in front of him. “Mine!”
Jake’s legs almost gave out as Van put his hands on Jake’s thighs to steady himself before slowly sliding his mouth over the head of his cock.
“Fuck.” The sight of Van looking up at him as he slowly fed more of Jake’s cock into his mouth had Jake straining not to come. It was the hottest thing he’d ever seen.
Van wrapped one hand around the base, squeezing tightly and pushing Jake back from the edge. When he pulled off his lips were already getting red and swollen. “I’ve waited this long Jake. You’re not coming until you’re balls deep in my ass.”
Jake grabbed Van by the shoulders and pulled him to his feet. “Can I take your shirt off now?”
Van nodded and Jake pulled the t-shirt over Van’s head, smiling at the ruffled mess he’d left behind. It was a good excuse to let his fingers run through it and Van almost purred like a cat as Jake petted him.
“I missed you so much. When you left for LA I was in shock. I honestly thought I had time to fix things with you and then you were gone. I didn’t know what to do.” Jake didn’t know why he felt the need to explain himself but he needed Van to know that this wasn’t something new.
Van moved in closer so that there were chest to chest. The soft hair on his chest rubbed against Jake’s nipples, creating a delicious friction that sent shivers up his spine.
Nosing at Jake’s neck, Van smiled against his skin. “I never should have gone. I was being stubborn and by the time I realized it was the wrong move, I couldn’t figure out how go back.”
Jake had both hands on the silky skin of Van’s back, pressing him closer. “You did though. You came back. But you didn’t come back to me.”
Shaking his head, Van cuddled closer. “I came to see you once, but some girl walked in ahead of me. The way she acted, it was like she owned the place. I didn’t want to interfere if you were happy and I was to chicken to take the chance that you really didn’t want me.”
The feeling of being so close to Van was almost overwhelming. “I love that you still smell like you.”
Van chuckled in surprise. “I’m pouring my heart out to you and this is what I get? You love how I smell?”
Jake nodded. “Yep. That’s what you get. Nothing else matters. We were both stupid but that’s over now.” He pulled back a little to look into Van’s eyes. “It is over now, right?”
“Yes, it’s over.” Van grinned at him. “Now, can we talk about this later? Someone’s gonna be knocking on that door any minute and I’d like to finish getting naked now.”
Jake couldn’t resist kicking out his clothes off and then kneeling down to undo Van’s. It didn’t take long before Van was as naked as Jake was and his cock was right in front of Jake’s face.
There was a drop of fluid welling up from the slit and Jake leaned in and licked it away. It didn’t taste great, but it wasn’t bad.
“Jake, have you ever done this?” Van was looking down at him, love and concern in his eyes.
Jake shook his head. “No.” He sucked the head of Van’s cock into his mouth, exploring it with his tongue. He liked how it felt. Pulling back, he smiled. “But I know what I like and I figure you can show me the rest.”
When Van nodded, Jake spent the next several minutes exploring Van’s cock with his mouth and tongue. He loved the sounds Van made and did everything he could to get him to make more.
“Jake.”
He vaguely heard Van trying to get his attention but was too lost in what he was doing to really hear him. A sharp tug on his hair sent a bolt of electricity right to his groin and finally got him to look up.
Van looked fucked out already. His hair was a mess, his face was flushed and he never looked more beautiful. “If you don’t stop, I’m not going to be able to hold back.”
For a moment Jake couldn’t remember why he couldn’t just suck Van until he came, but then Van pulled Jake to his feet and then pushed him until the back of his legs hit the couch. He finally got what Van wanted and sat on the sofa, waiting for what Van would do next.
Van picked up his jeans and pulled a condom and small packet of lube out of his pocket.
Jake raised his eyebrow. “You always carry that with you?”
Van shook his head and straddled Jake’s legs. “Nope. But I was coming to see you.”
Jake grinned and put his hands on Van’s hips, pulling him until their cocks were rubbing together between them. His breath got caught in his throat. “You were that sure about us?”
“I was that hopeful.” Van looked almost shy and it wasn’t a look Jake ever got to see a lot. Hooking one hand around Van’s neck he gently reeled him in until he could kiss him. The feeling of skin against skin was so much better than he remembered from the drunken groping they’d engaged in years ago.
Jake looked up as Van ripped the condom open and then reached between them to slowly roll it down Jake’s cock, making him moan and buck up into the too little pressure.
“Almost there, Jake. Just gotta get me ready.” Van opened the lube and Jake felt like he was going to burst into flames as he watched Van reach behind himself with shining, slick fingers. Jake couldn’t see what he was doing, but from the way Van was groaning, it felt pretty fucking good.
Jake slid his hand down over the soft swell of Van’s ass to where he was working himself open. Van shuddered and his legs tightened around Jake’s when he curiously rubbed his finger around the rim of Van’s hole where it was stretched around his fingers. He’d worked two inside himself, probably in a hurry to get Jake inside him, but Jake wasn’t quite done exploring.
“Can I?” Jake almost didn’t recognize his own voice. It was low and rough and Van nodded immediately and pulled his own hand away.
“You gotta loosen me up. I don’t need much, but I like the feeling of someone’s fingers inside me.” He looked almost embarrassed by his admission, but Jake just slipped two fingers into the already slick channel.
“Fuck that’s hot.” Van had both hands on Jake’s shoulders and was trying to push himself down onto Jake’s hand. It amazed him that he could feel the muscle loosening around his fingers.
Van’s mouth was on Jake’s neck, licking and nipping along his collarbone and up behind his ear. “Jake, if you don’t get your cock in me right now, I’m going to finish without you.”
Jake could hear the desperation in Van’s voice and slowly withdrew his hand. Van’s needy whimper as he was left empty pulled at Jake’s heart.
“Okay babe. Show me how to do this.”
Van pulled back and looked down into Jake’s eyes as he reached down and steadied Jake’s cock against his hole. “Just don’t let me go.”
Jake dug his fingers into Van’s hips as he lowered himself down. Jake wasn’t sure he was going to fit at first and he was afraid of hurting Van but the head of his cock finally pushed through the ring of muscle.
“You didn’t feel this fucking big in my mouth.”
Jake couldn’t help but chuckle. “Sorry?”
Van’s fingers tightened on Jake’s shoulder for a moment and then Jake could feel everything ease slightly. Van’s eyes had closed as he’d taken Jake in, but they opened as his ass finally relaxed against Jake’s groin. “It’s fucking perfect.”
Leaning back, Van lifted himself up and then slid back down, making them both groan. Jake used his grip on Van’s hips to help him move but it didn’t take long until he had a rhythm going and all Jake could do was hang on for the ride.
“Doing this on a bed next time Jake.” Van grunted the words out. “Gonna spread you out on my fucking bed and touch you everywhere.”
Jake wanted it so bad…but not as bad as he wanted to come right now. “Won’t last Van.”
Van shook his head. “No, me either. Touch me.”
Jake was confused for a second until Van grabbed his own cock and started stroking. Jake knocked his hand away and took over, enthralled by the look of pleasure on Van’s face. “So fucking beautiful.”
Van flashed him a grin and then his eyes rolled back in his head. Jake could feel muscles ripple around his cock and then Van was coming, rope after rope of heat striping Jake’s stomach and chest and that was all it took to push Jake over the edge.
His back arched as Van collapsed against him and sparks flew behind his eyes. When he finally came back to himself, Van was kissing his face and down his neck, muttering words into his skin.
“Waited so long. Now you’re here. Now you’re mine.”
Jake wrapped his arms around him, holding him tightly. “Yes, now I’m yours. And your mine.”
Van nodded and then sighed. “Hold the condom Jake while I pull off.”
Jake didn’t want to let him go, but knew they had no choice. He did as he was asked, watching as Van got unsteadily to his feet. Removing the condom, he tied it off and tossed it in the trashcan beside the desk.
“We need to get cleaned up.” Van looked around the room and finally spotted the door to the bathroom. It didn’t take him long to go and come back to where Jake was still boneless on the couch. Using damp paper towels, he cleaned Jake up as best he could, stopping to pepper kisses across his neck and chest as he did.
Jake finally stood and pulled Van to him, needing to hold him close for a bit longer. They were both startled by the knock on the door when it came.
“Uh, guys? Everything okay in there?”
They both started laughing. “Yeah, it’s all fine.” They pulled apart and started grabbing for their clothes and slipping them on. “We’ll be out in a minute.”
“Okay, well, take your time.”
Jake could hear footsteps walking away. “Who was that?”
Van shrugged. “The woman who organized this I think. Why?”
Grabbing Van by the belt loop, he pulled them back together until they were wrapped around each other again. “Because I’m gonna buy her a big fruit basket or something for putting this thing together and giving us the kick in the ass we needed.”
Van smiled but then looked down at the floor. “So, uh…when we go out there…?” He trailed off, worry and insecurity coloring his voice.
Jake threaded their fingers together. “We go out like this. I’m not letting go of you for the rest of the day.”
“Are you sure? You have a career to think about.”
Using his free hand to lift Van’s chin so he could look him in the eye. “Van, I have played a gay man in almost everything I’ve done since leaving the show, including the movie you seem to think I’m gonna be Oscar nominated for. I don’t think it’s going to be that much of an issue.”
Van turned his head and kissed Jake’s palm. “Okay. Let’s go then.” He turned and started tugging Jake toward the door, but stopped and looked back at him. “And I’m right about the Oscar nomination.”
Jake tugged on his hand and brought him back to kiss him once more before walking out the door. “You know it’s gonna get loud when we walk out there.”
Van shrugged. “They’ve waited a long time for this too. Might as well make it worth the wait for them too.”
“I can’t believe you just said that.”
Van laughed. “What can I say? The writers got it right once in a while.”
Jake smiled and walked hand in hand with Van out the door and into their future.
