In order to make quitting smoking easier i've decided to make daily posts on the subject. Like now i've been craving for one for the past hour so i'm gonna summarise my experience as an ex-smoker so far until it goes away
Day 0: Friday 29 July 2005 Decided on a whim that it would be a good idea to stop smoking NOW because of several reasons: my increasing paranoia over diseases, no studying to worry about, (anti-smoking) mum coming over for the weekend so would make a good start, shortage of cash and more generally smoking is a filthy habit you know :) Boots for patches and the Arcadian for Mexican beer and my last packet of darling Marlboro Reds ...
Day 1: Saturday 30 July 2005
Money saved: £1.25
Minutes saved: 60
Present: Black jacket from MUJI with lots of pockets
Today was fine, the patches made me kinda dizzy but apart from that i was well pleased with the incredibly mild withdrawal symptoms. Didn't want a cigarette all day until Aleks lit up next to me after a long French wine and cheese extravaganza. So i asked him to only smoke in his room for a while as he is now the only smoker in the house
Day 2: Sunday 31 July 2005
Money saved: £2.50
Minutes saved: 120
Day trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon was all very civilised, cultivated and elegant without smelly rollies. Think i got enough smoke from the steamtrain there and back
Day 3: Monday 1 August 2005
Money saved: £3.75
Minutes saved: 180
First day at work as ex-smoker so exclaimed rather proudly "Nah i've quit!" to Bex' "Ya comin for a fag Karen?" Spent the breaks looking up gorgeous women who don't smoke on the internet and top of the list my favourite of them all: Angelina Jolie! She and Billy Bob gave up smoking together a few years ago
Day 4: Tuesday 2 August 2005
Money saved: £5
Minutes saved: 240
Found an incredible site: www.click2quit.com, it's got personalised giving up smoking plans, calendars, bad-day buttons, distraction online games, top tips and loads more -it's so much fun!
Day 5: Wednesday 3 August 2005
Money saved £6.25
Minutes saved: 300
Remember getting a minor shock when doing my usual non-smoking surfing and found somewhere it said that even after years of smoking you can get cravings -and really bad ones too! By jove, tobacco should be banned! It's not only lethal but extremely addictive!
Day 6: Thursday 4 August 2005
Money saved £7.50
Minutes saved: 360
Today i'm slightly disillusioned, i love smoking! I'm still young and still have plenty of years to quit! I'm not actually saving money cause these damned patches cost about twice as much as what i usually spend on tobacco. More importantly, in the words of ex-smoker Chandler on Friends, smoking is cool!
To be continued...(hopefully)
