Nostalgia... I have it...

Lately I find myself drawn to music, clothing, television, etc. from the mid-to-late 70's and early 80's.

Bell bottoms, sweatshirts with farm animal picture scenes on them, leather fringe, "wings" in the hair, headbands... the Bee Gees, Saturday Night Fever, Creedence Clearwater Revival, ABBA... old reruns of game shows like Press Your Luck and Let's Make a Deal and Hee Haw... they all make me so happy.

I figured out it's because for me, all of that represents a far simpler time.

A time of falling asleep on the vinyl bourbon barrel couch in the family room while "How Deep is Your Love" played on my parents' old turntable.  A time of opening up the copper-colored fridge and pouring a glass of milk from a carton (not a jug) and setting the empty amber-colored glass down on the orange Formica countertop.    A time of opening Christmas and birthday gifts while sitting on the orange-yellow-red-and-brown shag carpet, and playing with all of my cousins on the beanbag chairs and huge toss pillows.

I'm sure those weren't simpler times.  There was a lot going on in the world back then too... the same as there is today.  But I was safe and secure and I didn't have to worry about anything.

That's the feeling all of those things bring back for me.  :)
