So I have made a decision about what I am going to give up for Lent. I wanted it to be a challenge, but I didn't want it to make me a crazy person. The first year I ever did it when I was going through RCIA I gave up chocolate. I thought I was going to die. On Holy Thursday I had gone out with some people from my company to look for a venue for a party. We were literally wined and dined and the last package we were given was a box filled with chocolate covered strawberries. Yeah. I wanted to cry.
After I went through the rites of initiation Saturday evening and came home, the first thing I went for was the box of covered strawberries. They were a little mushy, but delicious and worth the wait. [if anyone is interested in that story re: RCIA I'd be glad to post it]
The following year I gave up coffee. BAD IDEA. I was a royal bitch. [as opposed to normal ha ha ha]
The year after that I gave up shopping. [other than necessities like groceries, personal hygiene items, etc. I just couldn't buy clothes or shoes or jewelry; anything frivolous.
I've also tried giving up snacking one year, but that was a huge FAIL.
I thought about redoing that this year, but since I never really buy anything nuch for myself anymore it would be too easy. That and I think I am going to need some new jeans very soon. I'm getting a hole in one of my 2 pairs.
So with much thought I have decided to give up Blackpool. I will give up watching the episodes, I won't listen to the soundtrack, and look at the pictures. [unless someone posts a pic and I happen to see it on accident]. I have gotten SO addicted to it, it's kinda crazy. So this gives me a chance to back off and do/read/watch other things instead of re watching it over and over and over again.
I've changed my ring tone from the "Boy With the Thorn in His Side," to something else.
And I won't be using my Blackpool icons until Easter. D:
It's going to be a long 40 days. Thank heavens I can get my DT fix in other ways. :)
