Wow. It's been 3 years since I've written in my livejournal. A lot has happened since then. Since October 2006, I've graduated nursing school, passed my state board exam, worked at 4 different jobs, bought a house, got married, and this past July, I had a baby. My life is definitely way different than it was 3 years ago. Justin and I got married on 9-15-2007. We've been together for 6 1/2 years, but the true love of my life is my gorgeous baby girl. Riley Grace was born on July 14th, 2009. Her original due date was the 18th, but circumstances caused me to be induced early. I started Cervadil on Saturday evening, around 7pm , and didn't have Riley until Tuesday morning at 3:58am. That was after 2 doses of Cervadil, a boat-load of Pitocin, an epidural, and 21 hours of active labor. At 1am, I decided to call it quits and asked for the c-section. As luck would have it, my OB/GYN had just left the hospital to go home. Before they could get him back to me, he got a call to deliver a breech baby at Cabell for a girl who had just gone into labor (I was at St. Mary's). Since Riley & I weren't in any danger, we were put on hold. Needless to say, I took my last baby-free nap right then. So at 3am, he gets back and they start prepping me. Before I know it, they've already started cutting me and Justin wasn't even in the OR yet. I asked the anesthesia guy if they'd started yet, and he replied, "Oh, they've almost got her out". Talk about not being kept informed. I found out later that Riley's heart rate had dropped dangerously low, and they had to get her out in a hurry. So after those 21 hours of labor, I now have a 12 inch, extra long scar on my lower abdomen and zero satisfaction that you can only get from a natural delivery, but a beautiful little princess who is completely healthy. I'll take her any day, though. She's now 3 months old and thriving. She absolutely amazed me every day. I can't imagine life without her. That beautiful baby is my world. Not only that, but I'm an extra-lucky mommy- I'm not going back to work. I get to stay home with her every day. My husband may just be the greatest man on Earth. He busts his butt so I can stay home with her and not have to put her in a daycare. What more could a mommy and wife ask for? Somebody up there must really love me.
