(no subject)
Ah well. I managed to go three entire days into December before getting totally fed up with Christmas music. That's about an entire day longer than last year. Guess I haven't been listening to enough radio or something. :)
In other news, I've recently encountered the joy (ha!) that is BitTorrent. Technically, it's an interesting way of serving files such that they don't overload the server they're being hosted on, while allowing large numbers of people to access the data. The downside, of course, is that the tradeoff for making things easier on the host server ends up being that much more of a pain in the ass for the person downloading them. My last download was about two gigs of data. It took me roughly 6 days. Two gigs in 6 days. That's an amazing 4k per second. For those non-techies out there, you know that blue-haired fellow that I use for my LiveJournal avatar (his name is Laharl, incidentally)? He's FIVE TIMES that size. Hell, I could almost YELL "one zero one one zero zero one" down the line that fast (well, not really, but it's funnier that way).
So yeah. Speed efficient it isn't. But ah well.
