julia_here . . . what's left of it! Once classes are out and time expands again, I'll come back and tell you more about all the reasons I enjoy her so much--her beautiful writing, which (with that given us by so many of the rest of you) has gotten me through tough days and bad nights, her wonderful nature pictures and fantastic

I am being dilatory about making a proper link post to the recommendations threas at S3- it used to be easy, I had a little program on the Apple thread called notepad where I could consolodate links, but now I have to mess around with word processing documents and c/p ing back and forth, and it takes more discipline than I can muster.
On a not unrelated matter, how the hell do high school teachers deal with more than one senior at a time, when it comes to May? I feel as if a tranq gun would be a good investment, and not at all disproportionate to the level of utterly disorganized energy.

I've just learned that Cynthia passed away; I'm very sorry to hear this, and send my profound condolences.
Cindy friended me at least a year ago, to read the fic recs I post each month. I didn't know her well; I knew her primarily through her icon - a lovely b/w photo of Spike. She was quiet - and never, ever, forgot to wish folks Happy Birthday. It was through her influence that I began to send out weekly birthday greetings. Such a simple thing - and such a powerful thing she did: she changed my behavior, and my attitude, toward birthdays. She didn't do this through a harangue or a note; she did this by setting an example, which I noted, and decided to follow. Cindy was a kind, generous, sweet person, and she will be missed.

She was one of the people who stayed with me all the way through my long fic, commenting encouragingly in my comments thread and poking me on usage in Email; she gave me the gift of a post full of TS links when I first started reading in that fandom, and she was a good friend in tough times; her death is just the latest this very bad year, and I am all the more saddened for its suddenness.
Julia, infinitely distressed

She was one of my Live Journal friends, and I was glad to call her 'friend'. She seemed to be such a kind and intelligent lady, and as another of the 'women of a certain age' I will miss her.
My heartfelt condolences to her family and all her firends.
