Title: when love beckons you
Pairing: Noah Puckerman/ Kurt Hummel
Rating: PG (pure fluff)
Summary: Kurt wasn’t sure when he lost all control of any wedding details but somewhere between the initial plan of small and intimate and the final day everything got lost in translation. (Future, not AU. Stand alone.)
Author's Notes: Written for schmoop_bingo for the prompt "wedding". Short. Unbetaed, so the mistakes are all mine.

Kurt wasn’t sure when he lost all control of any wedding details but somewhere between the initial plan of small and intimate and the final day everything got lost in translation. It wasn’t to say it wasn’t a nice wedding, really, but it wasn’t what he’d pictured and definitely wasn’t his wedding.

In truth the day passed by in a blur; familiar faces and camera flashes with just enough pausing to let him freak out before he was pulled into the next thing. Then he was walking down and aisle, flanked by his dad, Carole and Finn. He caught sight of Puck for the first time, looking relaxed and happy and sure of what he was doing and something in Kurt’s chest burst.

He inhaled and exhaled, followed all the commands that were given to him by the Rabbi or the Priest (each took their turn), but mostly he just stared at Puck. Puck, who had his hand wrapped around one of Kurt’s, which was totally embarrassing in the large crowd but somehow not. Puck’s thumb along his pulse point and the small tug of a smile that kept making it’s way up the right side of Puck’s face, like he was telling him, “This is crazy, right?”

And it was; totally beyond crazy, borderline surreal. To be in a space with people he’d known his whole life, to be standing with Puck, to be promising his entire freaking future to him. The craziest bit of it all? He had no doubt in his mind that he was doing the right thing. After months of resisting, fighting and flat out denying it, he finally could see that Puck was right. That this entire thing was right.

He blinked when Puck squeezed his hand, then realized that he was the center of attention and he’d lost the question he was being asked. He looked at the Priest, who looked back at him expectantly.

“Yes?” he tried, and he swore he could pick out Mercedes laugh among the din of noise.

Finn put a hand on his back and he turned towards him, reminded that he even had a best man (which was crazy), and handed him a box.

The ring. Duh. He turned back with an apology on his lips but the Priest shook it off.

“Repeat after me,” the Priest smiled. "I, Kurt Matthew Hummel.”

“I, Kurt Matthew Hummel...”

“Take you, Noah David Puckerman to be my husband.”

He stuttered over the word ‘husband’.

“I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.”

He swallowed hard, aware of the tears that seemed to be forming against his will. He made the mistake of letting his eyes dart away from Puck for just long enough to see Carole in the front row.

“I will love and honor you all the days of my life."

By the time he got to life his hand was shaking just enough that it took two tries to get the ring on Puck’s finger.

The Rabbi broke in. “And may you add, Ani leh-dodee veh-dodee lee.”

Kurt had practiced saying those words so many times, sure he was going to screw something up. He looked at Puck and nodded. “Ani leh-dodee veh-dodee lee. I am my beloved and my beloved is mine.”

The wedding wasn’t his, not really, but that moment; Puck’s small smile and his hand that shook just a little in Kurt’s. That moment was all theirs, and it was perfect.
